I’ve been contacted twice by a company representing Dell offering me a free t-shirt if I blog about Dell. I’m posting this despite the t-shirt bribe, not because of it! :) It looks like Dell is building a notebook as beautiful as a MacBook.

It’s an interesting look, though it would appear they’re trying to mimic Apple’s unibody. The new Macbook Pros have much more thought in their design though. I dislike that the screen on this one is set forward on the computer… That’s just my personal opinion though!

Beautiful machine with the wrong OS! Really nice machine though!
Wait a sec…adamo!?!?!?
What are they thinking!? That brings up all the memories of the Coleco Adam…not a good thing!
2 strikes against Dell’s marketing:
1) The name
2) Big budget marketing…offering you a T-Shirt for your time and effort?!
C’mon Dell – You’ve got a BEAUTIFUL machine there…don’t falter on marketing! Learn from Commodore!

It is as beautiful as a MacBook, but being a Dell, it is as functional as any other WinBlows machine. Beauty isn’t everything. It has to work too. Nice try Dell.

I like the aluminum build similar to new Mac Book.
I assume it will be normal PC style where they have commercials and briefs and notes about it… only to wait months to send it out and then its already behind spec. vs Apple who announce and release usually same day.

LOOKS like Dell is building a notebook as BEAUTIFUL as a MacBook – and that’s true. It looks nice. Of course, we all know that beauty is only skin deep. I’m a Mac because of the OS and the customer service – to which Dell and all the other sad little PCs can’t hold a candle.
March 10th, 2009 at 9:16 am
Looks like PC manufacturers are starting to catch up with Apple, design-wise. That thing looks GREAT!
March 10th, 2009 at 9:20 am
It Looks very good, i like it! Though the manufacture of it reminds me a lot of the MacBook, its nice to see that Dell have twigged onto the Uni Body “Style” Construction.

Yeah, sexy looking. Shame the had to end it with the clueless, dorky looking chick at the end.

Its about time! As a Linux geek looking for a durable, head turning Apple alternative, I hope it plays nice with Linux. I have always been confused as to why nobody was really taking Apple on in this market. The other companies are slower at innovation, I guess.

Wow that is pretty sweet. I love my Dell Studio Hybrid for streaming content to my TV. Just got my Dell Mini 9 and it’s perfect for the road. Guess that makes me a Dell fan… welcome to the club Cali!

Given a choice between Pepsi and Coke. The Dell is a Pepsi at the end of the day is it not? If you want the real unibody, then you’ll get a MacBook or MacBook Pro. All depends on the pricing, oh and the availability, neither of which Dell have communicated, as yet?

Sure, it’s shiny – but this video told me nothing about what I can *do* with it.

That looks sweet. Does it run OSX?

This beautiful computer is the first step to Dell becoming more popular and seen as a better computer. This system sets the stage for Microsoft so they can open and roll out the new Windows 7, and maybe, just maybe, Microsoft and PC creators will begin to focus their attention to beauty and sophistication, not just features and behind the scenes work.

I think I’m in love, and it’s not a Mac *gasp*! http://www.geekbrief.tv/adamo-by-dell
March 10th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Hm. Dell’s making a unibody too, and it doesn’t look like ass. http://www.geekbrief.tv/adamo-by-dell But then, its not an OS X machine.

on a completely random note, the twitter response/ties to this thread threw me for a loop.. I was a little confused at why you all kept linking back to this same page, haha.
and yes, looks good. finally some competition. though, it will probably cost as much, and thus, I’d probably get a mac. but if you get more for the money, which is why I had to abandon apple, dell might have another customer.
March 10th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
It is beautiful looking but you can always dress up a pig, it is still a pig! (and not a mac)
March 10th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Finally a PC notebook that doesn’t look like a mobile warehouse or look like a fisher price toy.
March 11th, 2009 at 1:47 am
Hey have a look Dell is now copying Apple, flattery the high form of praise. Dell with no originality. http://tinyurl.com/agbrf3
March 11th, 2009 at 4:52 am
Hopefully some of the manufacturers get on board.
As computerworld noted, mac buyers (me being 1) still pay more for the guts (1.6x PC parts)

So it looks nice AND works well? Amazing! Not sure about that glossy screen though.
March 11th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
That actually looks really pleasing to the eye. Too bad the website doesn’t have any details on specs.
March 11th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
never sell out. Especially for a T-shirt with advertising.
March 12th, 2009 at 11:46 am
This is such a copy off the new unibody MacBooks. But what is that ugly thing that sticks out at the end?
March 12th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
So they want to give you a $10 t-shirt with their logo on it so you can give them potentially tens of thousands of $ in advertising? They’re pretty smart.
Nice looking notebook. Unfortunately, it still runs a fugly OS. You can put lipstick on a pig….

The PC I would get if I had to http://www.geekbrief.tv/adamo-by-dell
March 13th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
hey, you can run linux on there too, doesn’t *have* to be windows ;)
heck you might even wanna try os x to see if it flies

Dell adamo Ad compliments of @CaliLewis : http://www.geekbrief.tv/adamo-by-dell
March 14th, 2009 at 9:40 am
The advertising for me is, annoying. Apple knows they make beautiful, amazing attention to detail and functional products. The Apple ads scream look at me with my ugly skinny models and the pretty views. I’m sure the Dell is a great notebook but show the laptop not this really bad gap ad. Maybe I’m being too critical but the ads and the site drives me nuts.

OMFG. Can Dell do anything original? This machine is a blatant Apple ripoff. http://tinyurl.com/agbrf3
January 18th, 2010 at 11:13 pm
I also thought that they’re trying to mimic Apple’s unibody, but it seems a better thing thing than unibody.
