I totally agree. The first time I saw it, I didn’t know what it was for, and I got just as annoyed as the searchers in the ad. Nice ultimate payoff, so this ad really worked.
It was a funny ad, but Microsoft ads always make me think at the end WTF was that all about. Like I get it that they are trying to say you will get the right search results not random stuff with the same keywords.
And I can’t see it working on the general public because most people don’t know how they work and I don’t think they are going to understand it.
Cali – I love this commercial – great find. I just covered Bing on the Moxie Mo Show last episode and didn’t see this commercial (the other one is just as brilliant, the one I showed on my episode). But thank you for this.
LOVE it – gotta give Microsoft some major props with their commercials.
So Microsoft’s assertion is that Bing will solve a problem that doesn’t exist? I mean sure, search was as bad as the ad if you were using Live search, but nobody used Live search! Good thing we have Google :)
OK – funny spot. The TSA person making bird noises made me laugh out loud. But how lame do you have to be to search for such broad topics? I would never just enter the word PLASMA when searching for PLASMA TVs.
Perhaps it’s my Microsoft-phobia. Experience has taught that MS product launches are about 90% hype.
Nice, and I get it as do most of you, but I don’t think the non-geeky public will catch the pun of off-target search results coming up from queries. Will they catch the “no-that’s-not-what-I-meant” angle? Not unless the “joke” is explained to them, I surmise.
I have to disagree. This is one of worst most annoying ads that I have ever seen. The first time I saw it on TV, I was so annoyed with it that I didn’t stay with it long enough to find out what it was for. When I clicked on Cali’s link, I watch the whole thing and all I have to say is “WTF?”
While I have some trouble getting the exact results that I want from Google (try looking for an error code for LDAP or how to get AD to join a Kerberos realm), but I can usually find lots of info if I want to know about plasma TVs. (Or better yet, watch GeekBrief!)
Nice ad – would make me go and look at Bing (which I did). Am I ready to ditch Google, not by a long margin. A good ad means a good ad agency, not a good product :-)
I’m too old a bunny to be taken by advertising, especially not one with so a reputation for the hyper-marketing and promotion of mediocre products as Micro$oft.
WOW, lol. I love this commercial. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. LOL. Finally something Microsoft has done right, and it made me laugh, which is rare for me. I am still laughing, I may have to download this video from YouTube. Way to go Microsoft! (Or rather the Bing team)

Microsoft, well done – For once!!
This is a really great ad. It’s odd, which sticks in your head.
Love it.

This one is definitely done by another ad agency than the the ones that did the Laptop Hunters commercials. It’s a good ad.

I still like the Windows Ad “I’m four and a half and I’m a PC”
By the way, here’s something cool you can so with Bing: http://tr.im/gbtvBing

I have to agreed. After I saw it the first time I said what? Then I played it again.

Correction: best ad from an ad agency hired by Microsoft. And Bing is a load of hype.

I think it is allot less smug then the Mac Vs PC adds from Apple. If you are better do you have to be so vocal about debatable points? AKA No Viruses?

wow, that was an awesome commercial, i have switched my search engine to bing, and its working great.

If that’s the best Microsoft can bring, Google has nothing to worry about.
In the meantime, Bing is allowing kids to surf porn.

It’s clearly not a decision engine though, check this link: http://www.bing.com/search?q=what+should+i+do+tonight%3F&go=&form=QBRE

starts off good, then gets annoying …
