LaCie’s 2Big is a USB 3.0 dual hard disk RAID drive that will be available in capacities up to 4TB.
The Blu-ray Association has finilized their specs for Blu-ray 3D. It’ll deliver 1080p images to each eye, and requires IR emitters and electronic glasses.
Notion Ink will be announcing a multi-touch device that may blow the JooJoo/Crunchpad out of the water. It’ll run Android, play back 1080p video and use the Pixel Qi transflective display. The specs are nice and they’re hoping to bring it to market at around $300. I’m not sure that’s possible, but we’ll see soon at CES!
A producer in Uruguay created a short film called Ataque de Panico on a $300 budget, and now has a deal to produce a full length movie with a $30 million budget.

Hi Cali. You misspelled the Spanish word “Pánico”; you forgot the accent! Being a mac user that’s unforgivable (just kidding) as it is very easy to produce accented characters on the mac, as opposed to PC. Happy Holidays from Brazil (where we speak Portuguese, not Spanish – just kidding again).

I have to take exception to the claim that the video in question cost $300 to make. The camera that was needed to record most likely cost more than $300 alone. Nevermind the computer, the software used, etc etc.
It’s an incredible video, and huge credit at using consumer devices to make something amazing, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of the attempt to make it seem more amazing since the budget was so small.

You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

Apparently the $300 was on the extras.

Filmed in the 2006, it took 6 months of work (distributed throughout 2 years…) to make almost the 90 takings that appear in the short one. 3dMax, FumeFx, Glu3d, AfterEffects, Photoshop and Premiere. They were spent a U$s300 in extras.
