Shownotes:
We’ve heard it before, but we’re getting more concrete information that the Apple Tablet will be subsidized by Verizon. It may also have face recognition with the ability to share the device between all of the family members.
Amazon released a Kindle Dev Kit that’ll allow developers to create apps for the Kindle. They also are giving certain users the chance to buy a Kindle at no risk. If you don’t like it, get your money back and keep the device.
The Saygus Vphone specializes in video calls on low bandwidth. You can talk for over 160 hours on a 5GB monthly limit.

When are you taking the Big Trip. You made more than $21 million at Paid by Pixels. Surely you can afford to go now.

B.D., I’m not sure where you got the $21 million figure from, but it’s way out of line of what was possible with Paid by Pixels. The grid was 1,000,000 pixels big, being sold in lots of 100 at $50. That means if every space was paid for, the max possible was $500,000. Less than half are occupied. And a majority of the spaces currently occupied did not bring in money (“Reserved” space holders, Heifer International (charity), and the Paid by Pixels banner). Just wanted to correct the faulty accounting there.

The Saygus Vphone appears to rather compelling, however you don’t really see people video chatting even though the capabilities are there.

My heart dropped when I saw you with the Pepsi t-shirt. Thank heavens you said you were grabbing a Coke at the end. I knew you had to be a Coke drinker. Hehe.
Love the show as always!

In Estonia videocalls were very popular a few years ago. If you have Symbian S60 phone, you can download free video chatting application(imChat) to your phone…

Hi, Cali :D
I always watch your podcast(Geekbrief.TV).
Your broadcasting are so incredible, I love it soooo much!!
By the way, today’s “Brief 693″ of “Extra Large(Direct Download Links), this is the same file with “Medium(Direct Download Links)” . So it’s not HD Extra Large file…
I do want Right “Extra Large File” as always.
Please, Cali.

It would make sense for Apple to break free from the vendor lock in that they now “enjoy” with AT&T. Contrary to AT&T’s claims on nationwide TV, they don’t cover lots of places without you paying roaming charges. Like Montana. All 140,000 + square miles. I don’t need an I-Phone, but it rankles me that I cannot buy one, because it there is no service for it here. Verizon is as close to everywhere in Montana and north Idaho as you can reasonably hope to find.

Sorry about the mix up, Hiropy! The correct file was uploaded to the Extra Large feed but it was just listed incorrectly on this page. I’ve fixed it!

Having a device that the whole family can share is hard for me to believe. Why? Because every member of my family has to have their own computer and iPod since we all need them at the same time. :) I can’t picture just one person using an iTablet in my house at one time. haha
Thanks for the link to the Kindle Dev Kit Cali! I signed up.

Hey Cali, Do you have any suggestions for software to use with the iSight on my MacBook, that will allow me to use a usb interface with a microphone? I would like to use garageband, but it doesn’t have the ability to record the video. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks….

Geek Brief really missed the mark on the Apple iTablet (iPad). It will be hard for it to have facial recognition without a camera.
