Shownotes:
The Clamshell Projector has one of the best press releases ever. Thanks @DavePeterson!
Apple is releasing a couple iPad accessories, one of which is a keyboard dock connector. One has a camera connection kit that makes it possible to connect a camera via USB and read SD cards.
The FVTouchCam N1 captures and sends 720p video and has an H.264 encoder built in.
Ford had its first profitable year since 2005.
SquareSpace allows you to easily build a great looking website, and you can use coupon code GEEK to save 12% on your website. Thank for watching.

I recognize the backdrop as Survarnabhumi, the Bangkok Thailand airport. I’ve visited many times and I’ll be there tomorrow once again..

Saw the iPad announcement and was on-site yesterday with an advertising agency (you know, the “creative type” so to speak). They were very convinced that the iPad was going to revolutionize something.
I love my iPhone, but iPad? It’s gonna require some more apps to really make me want one.

Given the company supplied motor vehicles to the Third Reich prior to our entry to World War Two and it’s founder was a virulent anti-semite who required all vendors of his product to read equally anti-semitic propaganda, it’s a curiosity the Ford Motor Company should be allowed to exist in the first place.

None of the surviving automakers, and none of the companies that produce the fuel that they use, can claim that they maintained themselves “clean” of totalitarian regimes.
Not BMW, not International Harvester, none of the VW group, not GM, not Chrysler… Mitsubishi made the dive-bombers that instigated the U.S. entering the war… and on and on…
Rolls Royce, Land Rover, and other British makes like Jaguar even ended up being bought and sold by manufacturers that were involved in despotism and/or anti-semitism. But, almost as ironically as Chrysler going to (fascism’s favorite) Fiat, they have gone to India’s Tata recently. And Jeeps are being made in China (whose communist regime has caused the deaths of who knows how many millions.)
So, do we still try to keep our hands clean, and stick with modern outsourcing queens, like Tesla Motors?
Maybe it would have been better for the U.S. government to just let them all fail, go bankrupt, and start from scratch, preferably with new names to go along with their new business models. Would that have been enough to break the ties to blatant evil that we’re still supposed to assume they benefit from? Would Ford have gone under? Did WWII-era associations with Nazis actually provide the springboard, from which post-war industrial America jumped to a strong, half-century-long lead? Should I be punished because my grandfather told racist jokes when he was alive?

Just to be clear, given the choice, I would choose a non-evil, preferably as open-source as possible solution for any purchase I make. As long as it met the same needs, whether it be automobile, GPS system (if only the GPS satellites were “open”), printer ink, what-have-you.
As long as I could afford it, (including total cost of ownership, which includes longevity and my own man-hours of maintenance required to produce said affordability.)

Please please please have some consideration for your Standard Def iPod peeps! I am constantly having things cut off at the sides when text or banners go off the edges and this brief in particular it was distinctly noticable. I realize small is not the only format but for those that prefer this option it’s a big hinderance to our enjoyment of your podcast. If you can address this in some way I’m sure more than just myself would appreciate it.

Benjamin, I’m looking into it. How long ago did this start?

It’s been doing it for numerous episodes now. I’ve only really started noticing it because of the sponsor items that go up at the screen at the end of the podcasts. Now that I’m looking back over the back catalog though I’m noticing that the Geekbrief logo that always appears at the bottom of the screen is all the way to the left so the G is always getting cut off. Also when there’s URL’s for various products you’re talking about their URL runs off the right side. A good cross section of this is brief #600 because of the show of the progression of the show at the start. Images are getting cropped as well but this is more of a superfluous thing.
I hope you don’t think I’m nitpicking as I really love hearing about stuff on your briefs!

FWIW, the link to the clamshell projector, while live, takes you to a page that simply says http://www.uxsight.com. Not only the link here, but links from a few other sites I’ve tried.

Not sure what you’re talking about Silverlokk. The page is there as you mentioned and it’s only meant to show off the product and the press release bullet points. There are pictures as well. Perhaps it’s just something to do with where you’re from or what browser you’re using?

Enjoy your show always from Israel & UK. Question of Clamshell projector – can you hook that up to a MAC Book to use for presentations? Thanks

@Namons, could be my Internet connection. Using Firefox on OpenSolaris. Funny thing is, I do connect to the site, which means my DNS can resolve it but I only get a message at the top of the browser window which says “welcome to http://www.uxsight.com “. Anyway, as another site pointed out, the low price is a cause for concern, as it *could* mean poor build quality. Still, if it lasts a few months, it may still be worth it. Compare that to more “reasonably” priced projectors costing 4x more that’ll last 4x longer :)
