Shownotes:
Foodies know how important a great knife is, and Bob Kramer is the best. Consider upgrading your foodie’s kitchen knife this holiday.
The Microplane 45002 Medium Ribbon Grater is a good stocking stuffer. Everyone needs a good cheese grater, right?
If you’re into soups, a food mill is a must and the one we recommend is the Rösle Food Mill.
For college students and family members living in a small apartment, the Fissler CookStar Induction Pro Portable Cooktop is a great option! It’ll heat up your food and boil water without the need for a stove top.
We put a lot of effort into researching rice cookers. The Zojirushi was the best we found, and it even sings a little song for you when it’s finished!
Brief 664 was brought to you by SquareSpace.com. It’s a fast, easy, inexpensive way to build a really nice looking Web site and my promo code GEEK will save you 12%.

You don’t wash your rice first? I do whenever I make rice, including with with Zoji

I’ve got to put in one more vote for the Zojirushi (introduced to it by Cali and Neal, so it all comes around). It’s incredibly simple and makes incredibly good rice. Even Chris Pirillo has one and loves it: http://chris.pirillo.com/worlds-geekiest-rice-cooker/

Love all your episodes, but very cool to find out you are a bit of a foodie as well. I’m a professional chef in wisconsin. I think it’s great that food has become such a big part of peoples lives today. Would love to exchange recipes with you! Speaking of macgourmet.. great program, swear by it.

Cali,
I have the Zojirushi hot water kettle. I love this thing and can’t live without it. Keep water at a steamy 250 degrees for nice and hot coco on a cold day!

The CookStar is just the thing for a studio like mine. It’s so small, you have to go outside to change your mind. =)

Hi Cali!
Love watching the Brief, always informative and entertaining! Just an FYI regarding kitchen cutlery, I don’t disagree with you regarding Bob Kramer knives they are fantastic. But I must let you and others know about Murray Carter at Carter Cutlery

Kyocera (ys, the cell phone brand) makes knives that last even longer from ceramic. Check them out! Better than folded forged steel and almost as sharp as diamond.
