Shownotes:
The NeatDesk is more of a practical gift, but an awesome one (at least I think so!). It’s a digital filing system. You can scan 10 double sided documents, 10 business cards and 10 receipts at the same time or 50 documents. NeatWorks, the included software will help you organize everything and even help with taxes.
For every Sunnan Solar Powered LED Lamp that’s purchased, IKEA will send one to a third world country to enable women to read at night without electircity. It’s a great way to get into the charitable holiday spirit.
The Kodak Zi8 is my favorite HD pocket camera. Every mom should have a camera ready to shoot video in the midst of special moments.
A great addition to a pocket camera is a portable tripod that will mount to just about anything. The Gorillapod is exactly that and comes in different sizes and colors.
I’m a huge fan of Pandora. Having music available everywhere and anywhere is a great thing. The Livio Radio featuring Pandora allows you to have your music around the house without being connected to a computer.
If you’re not all that keen to put up your own Christmas lights this year, you can find a trusted installer on Angieslist.com who will do it for you. My code: GEEK will you save you 25% when you join the list.

“We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.”

Cali, the Gorillapod has been around for a while. I remember Leo talking about it on Screen Savers.

Well, I could really use some help to get my paperwork done. But unfortunately the NeatDesk scanner is not available in Europe. Even the software download is restricted to the US and Canada.
Do you know, how the neat solution compares to Mariner Paperless with a ScanSnap?

neatdesk scanner; i just use my phones camera to record all my important docs. currently the 5mp htc hero. works well as i have the entire store in my pocket at all times. handy when i lost a medical appointment card to have a virtual copy with all the info the hospital needed.
ikea lamp; not really sure it would work here in ireland (we’ve heard of the sun but have no truck with it :-) ) but with that charitable scheme i’m going to have to find out. it’s a 2 bus adventure from here to the only ikea store in ireland but i suspect i’ll be going there next week to see these little beauties. life changing for somebody without electricity to have an extra few hours of free light to work by. might just leave them on a window sill for powercuts.

Thanks, Cali, for alerting us to the SUNNAN lamp campaign. I found info on IKEA providing lamps to children through UNICEF , but not to women in third world countries as you noted in the show. Either way, it’s a great initiative worthy of our support.

If there’s a more charming and charismatic woman than Cali online, I sure don’t know who she is. Cali, you “make my day”. Happy Holidays.
