Flash for the iPhone

It seems like Flash playback on iPhones is inevitable. Since Apple is the gate keeper, I guess they could deny access to Adobe, but that seems unlikely.
Today Paul Betlem, Sr. Director of Engineering at Adobe Systems confirmed that Adobe is working on Flash for iPhone. He was speaking at the Flash On the Beach Conference and said, “My team is working on Flash on the iPhone, but it’s a closed platform.”
Flashmagazine.com did some followup research and discovered the player already exists within Adobe.

NO!!! FLASH is simply crack for web developers! Style over content. Most people finally gave up on the blinkys on the sites, now they just trash them out with flash! Give me CONTENT!

Good. I think most people want Flash on their iPhones for the videos and streaming, the websites aren’t that important.

Thing is, few ppl ever mention the whole universe of flash based apps/games that’ll open up when flash finally becomes available for the iphone. And unless Apple is secretly working on a competing technology, I also see no reason for it not to happen sooner or later.

I think most people are using Flash as advertisement/banner those flashy kind of stuff, which always keeps the site and your eyes busy, previously the missing of Flash hold me back a little bit but after I bought it for a few days, I just love it! But since there’s a high demand of Flash for iPhone, Apple could implement something like enable or disable Flash function in the Safari browser.

If the iPhone flash player already exists within Adobe, than there are only two reasons they might not be distributing it. One, it is being beta tested. Two, there are non technology issues with releasing it (ie Apple won’t let them). Based on the comments on it being a closed platform, the latter seems more likely.
I’m hoping that someone comes up with a way to load software on the iPhone that does not require the App Store. It is a big rip off that you have to go through Apple to load software on the device. No other mobile platform has this kind of restriction. If this were the case, it wouldn’t matter if Apple wanted Flash on the iPhone or not, it could just be released. Adobe did not have to check with Microsoft to release Flash for Windows Mobile.

I’m kind of glad to hear it. Apple can stop trying to control the web and it’s users now. But frankly they’ve needed it since Nokia’s series 60 phones have it and Internet Tablets have had it. since day 1.
