Hm, I don't think in Germany we have a real start, though somewhen in November some sort of Christmas market start in most towns where you can buy all those Christmas decorations etc. I don't care about that though. For good looking headphones please have a look at Audio Technica too. They are from Japan as well, though harder to get outside of Japan, and boy do they create cool looking stuff.

I'm in the UK and like most countries in the world, there is no Thanksgiving Day so it gets annoying to hear "Happy Thanksgiving" a dozen times, followed by "Happy Black Friday", both of which are meaningless here. For that reason I love the Mobuzz TV podcast which didn't even mention it (but then it's not American). The closest thing to Black Friday here is Boxing Day when the sales start, which is on 26/12, that's 26th December for the Americans. If you asked English people what Black Friday is, most would think of a national financial crisis like "Black Monday" or "Black Wednesday". Look them up on Wikipeadia. I guess in the UK the Christmas season starts individually in each town with the official Christmas lights switch on, with the lights being switched by a celebrity if possible.

But Christmas is supposed to be hot, der! Otherwise it wouldn't feel like Christmas! There is halloween in australia but it's only really celebrated by kids, it's seen as a silly holiday by adults. ;) And Turkey day is christmas day, eating turkey on christmas day is what Australians do.

It used to start with the Norelco commercial with the little Santa sledding down the hill on a shaver head. Then they stopped showing that commercial. So then it started with the "Seasons Greetings in our souls, Fruity Pebbles in our bowls" commercial. Now that's gone too. Now I have no commercial to let me know it's started.

I saw some of those headphones at the sony store in King of Prussia mall, and tried them on. they sound great but i couldnt keep them in my ears. the most comfortable pair of earphones i ever had were the JVC Air-Cushion Headphones which never have fallen out of my ears and sound better than a $50 pair of sonys i had for a while

As others have already mentioned, here in Australia we don't have anything comparable to the US thanksgiving holiday, nor Halloween, although some people have started to "do" a Halloween to please their kids. Late December is actually the start of the real holiday season here, due to it being summertime. Most people take their annual vacation at this time and the kids are out of school for about 6 weeks. Congratulations on the site and GBTV — both look terrific and very professional. Hey, although I found Cali's rapid-fire delivery annoying when I first started watching GBTV, it almost seems normal now. :) Cheers, M.

why didn't they make a compact flash wifi card? That would be a gizmo pro-photographers would buy.. it makes me think that the camera companies don't want them making a wifi CF card, so they can sell their $500 accessories that do the same thing

In Austria we got a Harvest festival on a Sunday in October, which has nothing to do neither with Christmas nor a black consume orgy… For getting into the right mood we have Advent, full of ancient customs and traditions – and our big buying season for Christmas eve. Wow, Cali, you have just saved me $300 in buying college school books! I just recently got myself a Sony Digital Reader (in contrast to the Kindle… sorry), and I was looking forward to forgo my heavy school books by scanning page-by-page. With Snapter Ice, converting all those expensive books, making them into PDF's, and storing them into my SDR will be… a godsend! College life wont be as expensive as it use to, I'm gonna buy an iYule just because of this great lifehack!

Hey Cali I love the show. Yeah I am an American that is living in Australia. There is no thanksgiving or Halloween. Plus the seasons are in reverse here, so Christmas is in the Summer. So first there is no lead up to the Holiday season, and it's like 90-100 degrees here. So it doesn't even feel like Christmas. Kinda of crazy. But at least Santa comes with Steve Irwin short shorts and is pulled by Kangaroos. Now that is cool.

Canadian thanksgiving is not really the same as the yankee version. First, it is on a Monday and not a thursday… so black thursday doesn't really work. Second, halloween comes between thanksgiving and christmas so it kinda steals the momentum. From what I have heard Canadian Christmas is more of an equivalent holiday to the american thanksgiving.
