A couple weeks ago, we flew out to Cupertino to shoot this episode. Even though I said what we would be announcing today has nothing to do with Apple, lots of you didn’t believe me. It’s really an announcement for you guys. HP wants to give one of you a HP MediaSmart Server. To enter all you have to do is send an email to hp [at] geekbrief.com explaining why you want one. The official rules are at geekbrief.tv/hp. Believe me, lawyers were involved in the production of the official rules. We had some fun with that on this episode.
While we were shooting at HP, the power cable for my teleprompter shorted out, so since Cupertino, I’ve been working completely prompter free. Bodelin Technologies sent a complementary replacement, and they’ve improved it!

You've definitely slowed down a bit during the last months, but this time you made up for everything bigtime :)

Those HP MediaSmart TV's remind me alot of Windows Media Center Extenders. I don't 'get' the Server's. According to the site you need Windows to set it up. You can run a iTunes media server on almost any *nix box with free software. HP's software seems to tie you into their service providers. I figure if my iMac with external hard drives is on all the time then if I can run the *built in* Apache web server anyway. I bet the HP server is running Windows. Boo!

Well, now everyone who says you talk too fast can see what you can do when you're really trying. I do think I heard a breath, though…

I doubt that was Cali saying all that at normal speed… They probably recorded her voice and speeded it up… That way it sounds clearer then talking fast in addition its also easier to do.

Just a note – the HP site says max storage is 6TB not 9. I sent 4 emails already!

It accommodates 9TB with external USB storage. We had an HP guy there on site who double checked. Good luck with the contest! :)

Actually, that wasn't sped up at all. Just me. :)

Canadians love you podcast too. The contest should be open to Canadians.
