Our trip to CES lasted fewer than 24 hours. We were there to attend an electronics retailer awards ceremony produced by Monster Cable. During the ceremony, we saw Andru Edwards from GearLive.com and iPhone 1.1.3 fame. I got him to show it working in person. Unfortunately, the lighting was bad, the camera work is bad, and so our verification of what he has still leaves room for suspicion. I saw it with my own eyes. It’s either real or an amazing hack I want to be real.We were shooting with the new Sanyo Xacti HD

Okay, so here's two versions of what I think happened. The first is the most simplest one 1) Since it was an awards show sponsored by Monster Cable, you were called on stage to present an award, or to receive an award. 2) After seeing the evidence that the iPhone 1.1.3 does indeed exist, her mission as head of the G.I.A. had now been complete, however after seeing an encrypted message in Andru's iPhone About screen it contained an embedded secret code that was soo TOP SECRET only CODE PHANTOM clearance from the G.I.A. would allow Cali to read the message. What the embedded code revealed was a secret that was leaked from an Apple employee of what is going to be released at MacWorld in only a few days. So being in a rush Cali, ran off to the bowels of CES at the Venetian Hotel in a parking garage. She was approached by a geek in a "Made for iPod" t-shirt. At first Cali was skeptical that someone who worked at Apple would wear something that would point him out as an Apple employee, but heard his story. What was said, was something that not Cali, nor Neal would be able to reveal, however in compensation for her secrecy, she received an Apple Platinum Credit Card, which only 10 exist in the world. This Card allowed them to receive Apple products for free by showing the card at any Apple Store. Anyway, I better stop now before it gets even more bizarre, but hope that gives you all a chuckle. During the interview, we have found that her camera was secretly updated recently (trying to make it mac compatable) with a super special low jack from Apple since she is on their AppleBreaker blogger list (people who have access to prerelease info based on previous posts). After hearing the keywords of "iphone" and "unreleased firmware", the camcorder alerted the mac mother ship via it's secret wireless (wimax and wifi) capabilities. After around two minutes into this interview, the Mac Men In Black (MMIB) rushed the interview still in progress at CES with the intent to use their Neuralizers to wipe their memories and suggest more mundane information about the iphone firmware release. Cali was warned via a twitter earlier in the day to run if men in black suits are rushing towards them during an interview to abruptly end the interview and run frantically towards the exits. Having three other people wandering around nearby to look out for this, one of them spotted the MMIB coming and sent the camerperson the abort signal (still unknown). After a hand signal from the camerperson, Cali abruptly ended the interview and fled for her life. Thankfully she escaped an was able to post this podcast. Hope this makes your day. Brian B.

Isn't the ending obvious? Cali saw a member of the MAFIAA™ (Music And Film Industry Association of America™) who was attempting to snipe her from a balcony behind the camera because of the "Digg the Code" video she was in. Putting everyone else's life before her own, Cali was attempting to move away from the crowd. Yes, this made her an easier target, but it also allowed her to get off a shot with her iGun–an iPod accessory only available to upper level members of the GIA. Unfortunately, she only wounded the MAFIAA rep, and he will be back to haunt us another day. Thank you, Cali, for your efforts to stop the MAFIAA and protect us from their wily ways!

She stormed out, nobody knew why… She was interviewing somebody who had achieved, by means of something that seemed impossible, that what makes iphone and ipod touch users dream the dreams of great innovation above innovation. She was seen talking to somebody off camera. Staff perhaps? A fan that came by to say hello (or something completely different altogether)? CES security? Nay… You see, where you see a friendly, lovely and geeky girl, beneath lies charisma and personality beyond expectations. So what could possibly remove her from an interview that was demonstrating a feature that in her own words she wanted to be real? Somebody called off camera all right… ———————————————————- Jobs is an intricate and sophisticate man. When you see him you might form all kinds of preconceptions. Knowing what history tells us about him, what those who know him in person, what the media says to us, you might get the wrong impression. "Steve is God!" some say, "Nay, the Devil he is" some reply. God or the Devil, good or evil, only he knows… And as it tends to be with remarkable historical figures, only time will tell… He has followers, all right. Lots of them. In fact this has led many to believe he could start his very own sect or cult. Both praised and loathed, mr. Jobs is, no doubt about it, a genius. A genius… ———————————————————- If anything, the IT community tends to look forward is big show events. Yes i was awake at that time. Her last GeekBrief had just downloaded inconspicuously by means of Miro. "This is GeekBrief 289" i thought, and she stormed out leaving me, us, with a feeling that something was awfully wrong. What can you say to a woman that would make her leave in the middle of an interview? I had to find out, but the web, that awkward friend that knows everything and nothing at the same time, held no answers to me. Not her twitter account, not her site… The last video had been posted but her site held no means to know about this brief interruption on space/time continuum. My mind boggled… I tried to piece it all together. Her last twitter message gave me a hint. ———————————————————– "I want to hold a reunion", she thought, "i would want to meet with the people that make this show great, the audience". So she announced that it might be possible to create the space and time for such a meeting… Alas, it was not meant to be. So she saw the opportunity to make amends with her fans and tried to get them to reunite at MacWorld, an Expo that those who held Apple Hardware and Software in great esteem knew . ———————————————————– Now, it's not everyday that you get to know the truth about a video that gets an odd intermission. But you see, i have placed all the pieces together and they seem to fit now… Cali was called of camera, somebody wanted to talk with her… Was it Mr. Jobs himself?, perhaps. One thing you can be certain about, " Macworld Meetup details are decided! Wednesday AND Thursday". Because (and you might tell me otherwise but, unless i hear it from her, I will never believe you) when you ponder about seeing the creation or meeting with the creator himself, the decision is already too easy… So no it does not matter if the iPhone icons move around or if they really shake or not… It doesn't when somebody off camera says "Cali, you have a call from Apple".

Why did Cali run like heck? Obviously it wasn't because she had seen some long lost friend or a big fan, most definitely not el Jobso. Why you ask? SHE WASN'T SMILING. For a girl who couldn't stop smiling if she wanted to, that face was really grim, she actually looked worried. The way I see it it could have been two things: 1) Cali saw some crazy psycho do a supreme act of evil that would give children nightmares such as putting his iPhone down on a table face down or maybe to a slightly lesser extent inserting batteries in an innocent gadget with the plus sign going on the not-plus-sign part. 2) I really hope for the sake of humanity this is the real reason. Cali either had to throw up or use the bathroom – wait for it… – because she's pregnant! I mean think about it! What other realistic reason could there be for her to so rudely brush off the Gear Live guy with an iPhone 1.1.3 IN HIS HANDS???? We are all excited for your 2.0 and hope you can still do videos during the "BETA STAGE".

Cali left because she thought she got the secret wink and nod from Neal meaning, "I got his serial number on video" so she needed to upload and enable 1.1.3 on *her* iPhone right then! That's why she said "no" when Neal said they'd be right back (she had what she needed – why go back and risk discovery?). She was NOT PLEASED when she found out that Neal was just scratching his nose. Note that there will be a NEW cameraman and secret wink and nod for Gbtv #290.

Moshe, the secret Head of Security for Apple was leading a crack unit of agents on a snatch-and-grab mission to retrieve the iPhone. Cali saw them coming and correctly assumed that they had a license to kill and it applied to witnesses as well as Andru. Thank the Circuits that she was able to take cover behind a large SONY TV and live to podcast another day.

What we couldn't hear in the background was the sounds of breaking glass, creaking girders, and screams coming from outside the building. I have a feeling that some unsteady camera shots from Neil (not bad camera work, just a lot of chaos) will show an explosion in the distance. A moment later, the head of the New York-New York Statue of Liberty will fly through the air, only to roll to a stop a chilling few yards from a pale-faced Cali. Suddenly, Cali will notice Anna Espinoza walking by and follow her around the corner of a building, where Anna will be cold-cocked by Sydney Bristow. You see, in partnership with the GIA, the APO branch of the CIA has been working to stop a secret plot to create a genetically encoded form of DRM that would effectively prevent people from even thinking about behaving in a manner that would not lead to profit for old media companies. Cali knew that Sydney was tracking Anna at New York-New York, and the havoc outside could only mean things were going wrong. After helping Sydney identify the secret DRM files on Anna's Nokia N800 and helping to hide Anna's unconscious body in this weird, bug-looking model ship outside CES, Cali returned to complete the interview mid-sentence, like nothing had ever happened.

While Cali was busy deducting if the firmware was truth or an uber elaborated lie to break the tens of millions hearts of loyal geekbrief.tv mac fans.. in a moment you realize this is not a normal hoax… it is the implementation of a horrible plot… so mischievous that even Rasputin's beard would fall off because of the pure diabolical plans………. she discovered the hoax is a virus… that will make the Our lovely Cali suddenly stopped her ever present beautiful cute smile… all that were there noticed it… and the camera crew knew that Cali was about to deliver action in a fas fast way!! …there wasn't time to explain, fast delivering of furious and uncontrollable pain was the only choice.. for the future of all the geekbrief fans.. for the future of all Iphone users.. for the sake of humanity!!!. Cally glanced the Aperture Science booth and fetched the hand held portal device and opened a blue portal under Microsoft's booth and opened a orange portal over him… two birds with one stone!!!! After doing a little -a Cali style cute- victory dance, Steve Jobs approaches Cali thanking her for helping millions of Iphone and mac fans around the world!! and as a way to thank you he lets you to try the newest revolutionary mp3 player from Mac… the Ipod uber nano code named "El microscopico" -the microscopic one-. After watching the episode on my ipod, I came to this site to look for an update on the events that ensued. Now I realize that this is a contest, so here's my guess. Possible explanation of the cliffhanger on GBTV#0289: Perhaps it has something to do with the post "Shame on Gizmodo", I think Cali spotted a Gizmodo staffer messing around(possibly the TV-B-Gone mentioned) during the presentation going on in the background. I noticed after re-examining the clip, she had grabbed her bag in haste, possibly to reach for her can of extra strength mace and/or a tazer("don't taze me bro!") to hunt down the mischievous deviant and bring down a world of pain. Oh Cali, don't you know? 2007 was the year of the Tazer, not 2008!

1. The Apple "crew" saw you with Andru and thought you were trying to buy the software. Seeing this the apple "gang" was shooting at you and you were trying to escape your favorite company. (very ironic) 2. You had to go to the bathroom really badly. 3. You were in an underground gadget trading gang back when you were young and they came to get your gadgets and sell them on ebay.

Cali was just alerted by a member of her secret staff that both FBI and CIA were reported to be in the area. She immediately knew it was in regards to her recent involvement in the super top secret device being introduced at MacWorld. Part of her agreement with apple and Steve Jobs, was that she would not speak to anyone about any products that would be released at MacWorld 2008. As we all know, both the FBI and CIA work directly under Steve Jobs (how else could he keep his devices so secret). Although the inevitable 1.1.3 firmware update to be released at MacWorld 2008 was well known, she broke the fore mentioned agreement and was subject to punishment from Steve Jobs himself. The fear of the impending "session of retribution" was simply too much for Cali and she decided to take her chances and attempt an escape. Little did she know she was surrounded by Apple/FBI/CIA agents and had little hope of a successful getaway (even thought her spy training gave her a significant advantage over the novice escapist). While most would curl up into the fetal position while being faced with the treatment that all apple traitors face, Cali did not waiver from her usual cold emotionless stare. She was herded off to a dark room lit only by a single incandescent 120watt bulb slowly swinging above her head. She sat in the chair handcuffed yet seemingly calm. A door opened and bright light poured into the room. A dark silhouette stood in the doorway (long ominous quiet). Suddenly , breaking the silence, a voice both familiar and endearing said " Did you think we wouldn't know?". Cali, still strong, replies to the mystery man "Do you think I care?" The man in silhouette abruptly charged toward Cali stopping within a few inches of her face, Cali not even flinching. The mystery man is revealed to be Steve Jobs himself. "Are you prepared to face the consequences?" Steve Asks in a unexpectedly scary voice. "Do your worst" Cali said never wavering from her astoundingly intrepid tone. A seemingly never ending moment of silence and tension built as a single drop of sweat fell from Cali's brow. "Bring in Steve" Jobs said with a smirk in his face. In a flash Steve Balmer enters the room screaming and holding the first generation Zune (in brown). With Sweat pouring from ever pore on his body, Blamer starts dancing horribly and shrieking uncontrollably. This startling atrocious event, finally drove Cali to a tear filled scream. " please… -no… -stop" Cali pleaded. After a few moments of terror, Jobs thankfully exclaimed "Enough!", which drove Blamer cowering into a dark corner hissing like some rabid scary animal. "Okay, I think that is enough" Jobs says and begins to walk away. He then stops and turns around " But there is one more thing…" A crowd which is not visible to anyone begins to applaud, whistle and shout. Steve smiles and proudly declares " I am stepping down from apple". Cali immediately responds with a 30 minute screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" (with pauses for breath of course).

Then were suddenly silenced… She went to find the source of the disturbance, only to have her camera battery run down. As it turned out, the disturbance was only Steve Jobs announcing another price reduction on iPhones…..

A disgruntled GeekBrief intern-reject has hijacked a Roomba and set it loose on the show floor, demanding one million dollars and his name in the GeekBrief closing credits for perpetuity. He has modified the otherwise innocuous dirt-sucker to transmit a signal bricking every iPhone in an area the size of a football field if it is tampered with. But the would-be techno-terrorist reveals something even more sinister. The spurned intern hopeful has somehow uncovered a secret grilled cheese sandwich recipe being formulated at GIA headquarters. The hijacker — who calls himself "Trader Joe" — knows this recipe is the linchpin to Cali's designs on shiny, happy world domination. If his demands aren't met by the end of CES, he threatens to release the recipe into the e-mail wild, where it will spread faster than you can say Neiman-Marcus. A mention of a few of the ingredients and exact quantities reveals "Joe" is telling the truth. But without access to headquarters, how did he obtain the recipe? It's clear this is an inside job. Cali fumbles for her Nokia N800. If she chooses to acquiesce to the hijacker, she'll have to pull out all the stops: HP, Splenda, GoDaddy, Drobo, and more. But first, she must identify her betrayer, and quickly. She glances at Neal, who is still filming. He's unusually shaky holding the camera, she ponders.

What would break Cali away from such an important interview? The G.I.A. of course. The woman's voice off screen when she turned abruptly was just coincidence. The reason she turned abruptly was because the sub-oral device implanted in her left ear came to life and she turned instinctively to listen. Cali is always connected to her agents. Why didn't Neal know what was going on? His sub-oral ear device had recently broken and was still coming from G.I.A.'s Q branch with his Eye-Fi. What was the important information that Cali had received? Bill Gates was upset that this would be his last CES keynote and decided that if he couldn't have another one, neither could Steve Jobs. Gates had modified Guitar Hero to a skeet shooting device and was planning to assassinate Jobs. Cali, being the huge fan of Apple and Jobs, was off to stop this horrible event. When Neal said "We'll be back" and Cali said "NO!" It was because she knew she could stop Gates but didn't what shape she and Neal would be when it was all over. Cali will never confirm that this ever happened because G.I.A. missions are top secret, plus she and Neal aren't looking for the credit, their just great people making the world a better place.

Part 1 techular memory is the hypothesis that tech items such as PDA’s, Cell Phones, Laptops, and Personal Computers somehow store the interest, likes, and memories of their users. There are some warm fuzzy happy tech news people that actually have an empath ability when they touch these items. Cali is one of these people. She not only has the ability to touch a tech object and feel what it has “felt” and learn what it has “seen” but once she has bonded with a device, the very idea of being without her causes devices to seek her out and send messages to her. This is why she wants everyone to have a DROBO; she gets to personally “touch” them before they are shipped out to her minions of followers. This enables her to make sure that there is no bad information just warm fuzzy logic for all.

Part 2 This power became evident when the interview was ended abruptly and Cali had to run off. Once she touched the IPHONE, she felt all of the hacks, hoops, loops, and programming that this poor little phone had to endure. She was overwhelmed with emotion and had to run off camera to gain her composure. She couldn’t let the world see our shiny happy tech news guru filled with such sadness. As Cali started to regain her strength and try to continue the interview she intercepted a message from a device in distress where someone was frantically looking for the “any key to continue”. This device feared for its life faced with the growing anger of this end-user. She had no choice but to LEAP into action in order to save the device and help a wannabe techie. That is just an ounce of the shinny happy tech love that Cali has for each and every one of us that watch and learn from her show.

Just before the segment started, Andru had ordered onion rings for the table. Cali noticed the guy in the Member's Only jacket heading for the men's room, and stopped the brief in order to protect herself and Neal. If you listen very carefully, you will hear the tinkling bells on the door ringing…

My theory is short and sweet… sort of. Cali, along with her production staff, promptly decided that after having seen 1.1.3 for the iPhone, they had seen enough of CES, and had to bolt from the place to prepare for MacWorld. Why? Because they knew beforehand that the most spectacular bit of electronic goodness was going to be a robotic MP3 player. MacWorld, Here We Come!

So these are my theories. In reality: Something was called on stage, IE: an announcement was made for something Cali wanted to se, or was part of, or she herself was called to the stage. Could be reality: The man from GearLive she was talking with reach under th table and placed his hand on her knee making her uncomfortable enough to get up and leave the table while hunting for seurity ;) we all know hes not good looking enough to get somone like cali :p jk. So far out of the box, if you asked me what a box was, id walk away…: Cali was subliminally suggested by Steve Jobs through all her apple hardware and operating systems to assassinate anyone who had confirmed iPhone firmware above 1.1.2 and when she saw the firmware number, the suggestions planted way deep in her mind usually reserved for grumblings and dark thoughts emerged only to realize she needed to go get her weapon of choice from the purse she left at her table…… XD
