This morning was crazy and stressful, but fun! We got into the Keynote with five minutes to spare, and started live blog coverage. A few minutes later CoverItLive crashed, geekbrief.tv crashed and I hear CrunchGear.com, Engadget, Twitter, and others crashed. We kept blogging the coverage, and that information is in tact, and you can see that at http://www.geekbrief.tv/macworld-2008-keynote-live-blog-coverage.
We shot this summary of the announcements right after the Keynote, but it took us hours to get it up because of broadband.

I like this "unscripted" format a little. It's obvious that you had a lot to do today so thanks for gettin this brief in! That blows that everything crashed today with liveblogging. Cant wait for a more in depth review of the macbook air and apple tv from ya at a later date. And btw the end of this brief is a little bjorked. There is around 15-20 seconds of black screen after the podshow advert followed by a repeat of portions of the credits. I thought you were tryin to do a "secret hidden brief" at the end like a movie.- Chris

Unfortunately no one were doing a live stream but I did manage to get some audio. I was up at 4am Wednesday Sydney time for the Keynote so geeze I'm tired now. macrumorslive.com had the best live blogging coverage BTW :-)

Thanks, for this recap, Cali. I wound up following the whole thing on Engadget through my Treo. A long time to keep my eyes fixed on my phone while trying to look like I was working! I've gotta say, the Reality Distortion was powerfully felt even in Seattle. I closed my connection thinking, "Yeah, $3000 for a teeny little laptop, that's totally reasonable, I've gotta do that!" Then I stood up, took a couple deep breaths, walked around the office and slowly the world faded back to reality. Steve Jobs has eerie powers, no doubt about it.

Why doesn't the take2 apple tv have a dvd player in it?
January 16th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
…because Apple wants you to buy and rent movies in their iTunes store.

Very true. Jobs' explanation of why there was no need for an optical drive in the MacBook Air pretty much translated to "discs are dead".

hmm, I didn't get this brief in the podcast for some reason. Did this one go live, or am I the only one with this problem?

It looks like the large format for this one (#293) did not make it to iTunes or the site. Was there a large format of #293?

Hello Geek Brief TV and Cali, I've been a long time watcher of your show — you have to be selective about what you watch, who has time to watch all the various tech shows out there?? Yours is by far the best combination of what's new and what's fun while still taking things seriously. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Anyway, I realize this post comes a week late. You see, I watch your show via my Series 3 HD TiVo and the shows aren't downloaded daily — not sure why though… Yes, TiVo. I noticed during your recap of Take2 you mentioned how numerous services have tried to bring movies to the TV but none have been really successful and require the use of a computer. I think it's worth a mention that TiVo in conjunction with Amazon Unbox has been doing just that — bringing cheap (many rentals are 1.99) movies right to your TV, all without the need for a computer. And you get, arguably, what is the be-all and end-all of simplicity in user interface design — and it didn't even come from Apple! ;-) http://www.amazon.com/b/?&node=16261631 Well, I guess that's my two cents worth. Take Care and go TiVo! -Ck
