One of the coolest things we saw at Macworld was the Conduit Suite from dvGARAGE. It makes it possible to do really good, live chromakeying using relatively inexpensive equipment. The key is so good you’re able to pour water and not pick up any noise from the greenscreen. I also talked to VMWare about VMWare Fusion and take a look at the Audio Engine booth. They Audio Engine 5 speakers have gotten rave reviews from both audiophiles and casual music lovers. At CES and Macworld, they introduced two new products. Audio Engine 2 is a powered desktop speaker system that sounds as good as the 5s, but in a much smaller package. The W1 Wireless Audio Adapter sends CD quality stereo sound throughout your house.

I’m not a Mac person (I used a Mac for about 6 months, but just didn’t like it. Did like the dock though, and have one installed in Windows), but some of this stuff looks cool. I’m especially interested in the W1 Wireless Audio Adapter, but I’m curious as to how this would interact with my wireless router. Considering they’re both at 2.4 ghz, I can imagine there might be some issues (especially because my signal drops already if I turn on the Microwave or my Cellphone is too close to the computer, since both are at 2.4 ghz).

Hey Cali and Neil, love your show. Just FYI, in the iTunes title for this brief, it says “Geebrief” instead of “Geekbrief.TV” Just thought you should know in case someone is searching for your podcast. I’d hate for them to miss it. :)

hi Cali/Neil,
Seems to me that PodShow.com got a problems for all your podcast video download… I can’t downloaded (all of them) but can see the streaming version… bad quality BTW.
Hope that problem will be resolved quickly! I’m downloading ever single podshow since day#1… as you must now, i’m a great fan.

We had a major issue with the show – there was 17 minutes of black attached to the end, so I deleted everything and I’ve re-uploaded them. Sorry about that!

Yeah wondered what happened!

Can we quit with the Mac world coverage already, I love geek brief, but I’m about ready to unsubscribe. Is there nothing else going on in tech?

I was able to see the original and watched it and then today it is downloading the “Repost”. In the 500GB hard drive and cable broadband, this isn’t too much of an issue, but perhaps simply naming it the same as the original would have “fixed” it and avoided the re-download.
Now I have 2 files of identical content in my iTunes library. (I subscribe via iTunes).
Anyway, just wanted to point out that there’s no reason to create a new entry in the XML, just replace the old one in these situations. Unless this is a podshow thing, then I understand.

So far this has been a terrible year for me. Podcast-wise, that is.
Geekbrief has been very monotonous. Seems like Macworld is their Get-out-of-jail-free card.
Dawn and Drew have used DNDtv as their excuse.
TeXtra died.
I can’t live on Mobuzz alone.
C’mon, 2008!

We haven’t been running Macworld shows non-stop since Macworld. We did normal shows, then Monday we were traveling, and we wanted to get something out. We’re about to shoot today’s show (a fresh, new one!), so it’ll be up this evening.

Hey Cali,
I think your shows have had pretty good balance so keep it up. It’s interesting how people think that clicking a subscribe button somehow gives them ownership and creative control of a free podcast. I believe that you search high and low for brief worthy stuff and I bet it is a challenge to find stuff that isn’t just another iPod cover or powerstrip. I’m there for you! Rock on!

Yesterday was Whiny Wednesday so today I agree with Richard. You do have a pretty good balance but there were just so many podcasts doing the “let’s try something different” in January that I felt disoriented. And it wasn’t just podcasts, either. Old media is struggling with the strike so for a moment I felt like 2007 was the end of entertainment.
