Drobo rebate for us “foreigners”?!?!?!?
Yes!!!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to buy a Drobo, properly let them know I found out about it here on GeekBrief and get some money off. I currently can’t figure out any way to do that buying here in France (or even in the UK).
Now that I know you’re working on it I’ll wait until you’ve come up with some sort of option for those of us on the other side of the pond.

Also I think it is worth mentioning that LTE is not only for video/media distribution but it is a wireless data network, or 4G if you will. It is being designed in as a competitor with WiMax with twice the bandwidth, and Verizon,T-Mobile, and ATT have all gotten into that bandwagon as well. I don’t really think you explained that quick enough. Maybe you could do a little more explaining in one of the next breifs for everyone? What happened to the debating comments? As Chris mentioned above, LTE is more than just a multimedia delivery system, it’s a next generation wireless network (though it’s not yet determined if it’s the 4G we are waiting for – it’s still about 18-24 months out best case till we see it.). WiMAX is here today, being rolled out in the US later this year, and already out in various countries around the world.
Quick point of clarification – when Chris wrote that LTE was designed with twice the bandwidth, some readers might have misunderstood that to be twice the bandwidth when compared to WiMAX. Actually, WiMAX and LTE are both designed for comparable much higher speeds (theoretical 100 MB/s, though what we’ll actually get will be less).
Agree with Chris that you might consider doing a breif comparing WiMAX and LTE. There are pros and cons to both, and I think many folks are confused or just unaware.
Keep up the good work – can’t wait for your big trip to start.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
