Nokia N95 | Nokia N800
Sometimes Tech is just one big soap opera. Microsoft offers to purchase Yahoo! and Yahoo! says, “That’s all you think I’m worth? You’ve got to be kidding. Anyway, I’m in love with AOL.” Popular blogger Mathew Ingram called the possible Yahoo! and AOL marriage “Desperation Squared.” Then Starbucks dumped T-Mobile to join forces with AT&T. The Starbucks/AT&T joint venture brings AT&T broadband customers free WiFi in every Starbucks. That’s why, as much as possible, I stick to gadget news. John Biggs isn’t buying into Modu’s new phone idea. After talking through the story, I think I get his point. Nokia’s N96 does everything the N95 does, but it does it a little bit better. Bloggers started getting their hands on very early Android prototypes. Dell has a new wireless USB option available on several notebooks.

Yep) N96 is here! But I’m not quite sure if the design is as great as of N95… But I could definitely use those extra 8GB(compared to my N95-8Gb edition) + SD! to get a few more podcast on it=) and those backlit touchbuttons are so COOL!!! THNX Cali for explaining all that deal with Modu)

The Modu phone idea is one of those things that makes me say, “Hmmn, that’s interesting… but I don’t want one.” It seems like a plan to opt out of broad capability, or else carry around six different items and the one set of guts that makes them all work (one at a time). Maybe when I left my house I didn’t think I’d have any need for a camera, but along the way I saw something that made me wish I had that sleeve rather than the one that plays movies. When there are good examples of how putting it all into one small package can work really well, I’m not sure I can see the selling point for this.

Hey it’s me… ya know the guy that always complains when you do a lot of Mac reviews / news. Well just wanted to let you know that in keeping with my theme, I just registered imgrumpy.com at Godaddy using promo code GB1… Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet but thanks for saving me $1 anyway. ;-)

to kind of jump of the n810 sponsor, I saw one (albeit a dummy demo) at best buy, never knew they had it there. It definitely is nice looking, but the fold out stand is so flimsy.
I’m saving up for one of these devices, and I’m torn between this and an EeePC. Aiming to get one over the Summer to see what the 2nd gen EeePC/competition brings.
Back to this brief… that Modu idea just doesn’t seem like it can take off. But then again, an all in one device can’t be the best at everything either. My quesiton is, what network are they going to jump on?

First confession: I am a Microsoft employee.
Second confession: I own two Mac’s and an iPhone.
With that, I’m still a bit insulted about the ‘love affair” metaphor. I can only guess at the reason for the Microsoft – Yahoo offer (maybe having something to do with the wonderful success of live.com – not). What’s insulting isn’t the relationships these companies have but the reality of business. The truth is that every last one of them is trying to get the best deal for themselves. This isn’t about ‘love’ at all. It’s about money.
Microsoft wants a better internet presence – Yahoo just said, “pay me more”. It’s the old joke that that ends with, “we’ve established what you are – now let’s negotiate.”
