Nokia N95(Upload in Progress) | Nokia N800(Upload in Progress)
I start with a review of the N-Gage gaming platform which is soon to be available on the following Nokia phones: N81, N82, N93, N93i, N95, N95 8GB, N96, N78, N95 NAM. I get the sense that N-Gage is about bringing a much richer gaming experience than we seen before on a phone. The graphics are impressive and the games I tried were challenging.
A new Palm Centro is available on the AT&T wireless network. Rather than review it, I’m giving one away to a Geek Brief viewer. The contest details are at www.BigTrip.tv.
Unfortunately Sharper Image filed for bankruptcy. Earth Class Mail is a service that let’s you avoid dealing with paper mail if you’d rather go 100% digital. HP will soon have an Ultra Mobile PC that you can get with either Linux or Windows installed.

Hi there Cali,
Love this episode. You forgot to provide a link to Earth Class Mail service.
http://www.earthclassmail.com/
It looked pretty cool, so I googled it so no one else has to.
Later. Can’t wait for your Big Trip.

Thanks for the heads up! I made a small mistake with the link to that. Fixed. :)

That HP UMPC is EXACTLY what I’m looking for… except it will probably breach $500, which is where I value something like this. It doesn’t need to do heavy lifting, just quick on the go documents, web browsing, and the on the go media.
I’m hoping the next EeePC will take some signs from this and come close to it and keep it’s current price line up. The N810 is really nice, but I can’t get over the keyboard and the fact it seems a little underpowered. If the iPod touch had a sliding keyboard, and flash support… and didn’t increase in price, that would work too :)

Great show as usual, I am very envious of the RVing around the US idea! If you come down to South Carolina I hope you do a meet up.

The brief since last episode starts to stutter for me when watched via the web site on my iPhone. Starts stuttering video only about half way through. Have you changed encoding?

Once you get on the road will you be doing more shows in your pjs? ;)

I have only been watching for about 6-9 months, and one of the things I look forward to is what funny or qwirky saying is going to appear on your t-shirt. For some reason you decided to wear your silk pajama top on this episode. I think I like the t-shirts better. As for the RV tour you are going on, I cant wait to see what unique or obscure places you will be broadcasting from. Maybe a greasey spoon diner at 2:00 in the morning, or an early morning broadcast in the mountains while the sun is rising. Whatever it is, it will be intersting to have some great scenery in the background during your podcast. I cant wait to see how it turns out. Good Luck! Have Fun!

@Brian: we haven’t changed encoding. Which version are you streaming on your iPhone?
We’ll be doing lots of live streaming, so pay attention to qik.com/cali and ustream.tv/calilewis

You said N-Gage started out as a hand held device and now they’re aiming to make it work flawlessly on Nokia phones…
Well, the original N-Gage WAS a Nokia phone. In fact, it was just a regular Nokia smartphone running Symbian OS 6.1 optimized for gaming. You could play N-Gage games on other Nokia smartphones even back then, although I’m sure you had to download them illegally.
You made it sound like N-Gage is a separate company who is now attempting to make their stuff work with Nokia phones when in fact it’s Nokia who realized it’s easier to sell games that work with all of their phones rather than just one.

@Cali: I am doing the small version. It just started happening like 3 episodes ago. I went back to older episodes and it doesn’t happen. Seems like the longer the episode the worse it gets too. I’m bummed because I never sync my iphone and so I just point Safari to your site when I go to bed and load the small version, no problem up until now. Hmmmmmm I wonder what’s causing it. I have apache configured on my mac to serve up my movies directory so I can stream my movie collection where ever I am in the house and they play fine as well.

@Nabir: I see how it sounded like that. Didn’t mean it that way, sorry!

Cali,
You mentioned using a Nokia N810 with an Apple Keyboard. Can you pair the two? If so, how do you do it?
