In “Blossom” parlance, this is a “very special” Geek Brief. You’ll have to watch to see why. I’m not giving it away in the show notes, but it IS a first.
Jeff Bezos wrote an open letter to Amazon.com customers to announce that Kindles will soon be readily available. They’ll ship the same day you order.
Ze Frank is working to divide Twitter users into teams. I’m not having it. We made a rainbow graphic to add to your Twitter avatar, if you oppose Color War 2008.
Miro just dropped an update. Miro is an open source app., the best one I think, for receiving and viewing Web video. It’s also a 501.c.3 non-profit…kinda cool!
Dean Kamen was on The Colbert Report last night with his newest miracle invention that makes pure water out of urine, poison or ocean water. It’s mind blowing.
Oh, and there’s that very special thing…
UPDATE: The special thing hasn’t happened yet, so if you know the people involved, please don’t say anything!!!

Paidbypixels is down but I think we get the picture, congrats to the families for surviving such a horrific natural disaster and discovering true love!

The drobo would be a GREAT wedding gift.
And we definitely need to see this wedding!
(And hey, I’m getting married. No date set, yet. Can I have a drobo, LOL. Just Kidding.)
And BTW, that was so cool in the credits. SAY YES, lol.
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:10 am
Do an ichat of the answer or have Shannon on the show telling us how the story went. I think this is a perfect story for Geekbrief. Your motto is Shiny Happy News!
Nice work.

I’m seeing product placement at this wedding! His and Her Nokia N800s… a drobo featured front and center by the minister…. and the Big Trip RV in the background!

Well, the marriage proposal was certainly unique. I would not have tried that myself. If I were on the receiving end, I might well be freaked out.
I am interested in hearing what comes of this.
Oh, and the rest of the episode was cool too. The Kindle coverage caught my attention.
March 22nd, 2008 at 1:35 am
Hey, hope the marriage thing works out. I definitely think a drobo would make a great wedding gift. I also think it’s cool about that water purifier. That. Kicks. @$$. I could use one of those!

Cali, I have been watching for a long time now, and I think this may have been the best produced GBTV I have ever seen. What a good friend you are, and of course I hope your girrrl gets her boy.

Weddings are good things (for everyone but me!) — hope she says yes!
As for the Colorwars unity message, yes we are all on the same team of geekness, but where does a tug-o-war with one team getcha? Nowhere…may as well change the name to “rope holding.”
March 22nd, 2008 at 8:12 am
that’s the sweetest thing =)

A GeekBrief proposal! How geekalicious. Keep us updated with the results
March 22nd, 2008 at 9:03 am
The wedding should be filmed with qik so that everyone could see it in realtime…
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:24 am
Another Geekbrief first! A wedding proposal!
Hope the answer is yes and it works out for them.
A few flicker photos from the wedding would be so cool too.
Talk about “happy, shinny, news!” :-D

This is a romantic week.

LOVED this episode! Great job Cali and Neal! Almost got me teary-eyed at the end… those storms were insane. Those poor, poor people!
So, did the girl say yes to his proposal??
March 22nd, 2008 at 5:33 pm
The surprise hasn’t happened just yet.

Okay, the proposal thing is cool and so was the water maker, but I want to talk more about Moe’s. I loved that place, it was a weekly destination! And one by one, every Moe’s has left the Dallas area. :( Can we start a campaign?
Great brief, can’t wait until the next one!
March 23rd, 2008 at 8:30 pm
@ Michael, @ Cali, I never got to try Moes, but per your recommendations I might have to check it out. They were building one in Blacksburg, VA while I lived there for half a year, but it wasn’t finished… and then I moved… and oh noes no Moes!! Cute Brief. I look forward to the next one.
