We moved so quickly, we didn’t realize how far out in the burbs we were going. The place we found is about half the price of our last place and it’s the first place we’ve ever lived that is really our taste. We signed a 3 month lease because we think we’ll be able to hit the road within that time.
We’re not quite finished with the studio, but we’re kind of excited about the lighting options. While editing this Brief, Neal figured out he can key out the background, if he just tweaks the blue light a little.
A senior executive at Telstra says they’ll have the 3G iPhone as soon as it’s released in the U.S. and that by Christmas it will be capable of 42mbps. We’re skeptical.
A line formed at the Apple Store on 5th Avenue in Manhatten. It turns out the store just received a shipment of first gen iPhones and there were enough people on the waiting list to create a queue.
GameStop will stop selling the Zune.
ESPN is releasing The Ultimate Remote Control. It seems pretty cool. It has WiFi, a QVGA screen and does text messaging.
R2D2translator.com will translate a few words into R2D2 beeps and whistles.
When I do the Becks Beer mentions, I realize I’m being very U.S. centric, and it’s only because you guys in the rest of the world don’t have the same moral aversion to beer that some folks have in the States. I’m treading lightly for their sake.

To commemorate the move, I’m commenting to you using my Nokia N800 Tablet PC. Those three months will go by quickly and you’ll be on the road in no time.
Please update when you can about the t-shirts and other items for sale I promise to continue my monthly donations to GBTV as long as you continue to podcast.
Happy Friday! ^-^~

Cali,
Don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it, but over the last four or five (don’t remember which) episodes, I’ve noticed an increasing tendancy for your audio to be out of synch with your video by 1/8 or 1/4 of a second. Thought you might like to know..
‘Grats on the (mostly) completed move. Been there, done that, and don’t envy you the process, though it’s a great step in figuring out what you can do without getting ready for the big trip!
regards,
Gabriel

A great batch of stories for your triumphant return! And the chroma key was a blast from the past – looked pretty good.

Hmm, it’s been known to happen, but the R2D2 site is still coming up for me. Anyone else?

Hmmmmmmmm… must be an East Coast problem, huh? I’ve tried Safari, Firefox and IE 7 and they all say server cannot be found.

I really liked the simple back drop on this one. I know that you said the reason for the the simple set was due to the move. But some of the best ideas come in the form of an accident.I really think you should keep the setup the way you have it right now very simple. If the PC monitors behind you are a must for you then set them on the shelf of the loft in front of the blue screens!! The only improvement I would make is to try to make (sorry don’t know the technical name) your product pictures come in a fade in instead of a cube or door in they look a little cheesy sometimes. If you faded them in they would not distract the viewer from cali and what she had to say! Hope the move is going well and you are near finished!! Keep it up you 2 are a true inspiration to us geeks out here.

Hey Cali,
The Zune might tap mobile gaming? To me that sounds like Microsoft is trying to pull a Nokia NGage. I don’t know- maybe it will work better with Microsoft.
Cheers,

I’m really back dated on my Geek briefs but catching up. Are you still having wireless syncing issues with your Zune? I’ve never had problems even though I use WPA2 encryption on my router. In case it hasn’t been touched on again I’ve got a few games running on my Zune. Yay for XNA!
September 2nd, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Yeah, I am. Haven’t tried in a while, but they say it’s a known issue. :(

Well if you feel like it shoot me some details maybe I could help out. On my router I ended up flashing it with dd-wrt and use WPA2 Personal Mixed. It sure did the trick for making my 1st gen Zune wirelessly sync. I don’t think the first gen Zunes supported WPA2 and God knows you don’t want to use WEP.
WPA2 Mixed
This mode allows for mixing WPA2 and WPA clients. If only some of your clients support WPA2 mode, then you should choose WPA2 Mixed. For maximum interoperability, you should choose WPA2 Mixed/TKIP+AES.
