Based on what I’ve seen so far, Spy Pens haven’t surpassed novelty quality. OhGizmo.com pointed us toward a new one called the DVR Pen Recorder that stores up 30 hours of audio and video, but only at a resolution of 352×288.
Sony’s HDR-CX12 Memory Stick Handycam camcorder uses “smile shutter technology” to automatically take photos of people when they smile.
SpotCrime recently got TechCrunched. It’s a google map mashup that gives you a graphical representation of crime activity in a particular area on the map.
Psystar is tempting fate again by selling an OSX rack server.
iRetroPhone is a rotary dial for iPhone.
PortableApps.com is a source for downloading small applications that run from a flash drive, including Firefox 3.

Awesome portable apps dot com!! I use OS X, Linux, and occasionally Windoze on other peoples machines, and that FF3 app for bookmarks, is great for backing up too.
Go Sydney! :)

PortableApps is great! I’ve been using it for about 6 months now after a friend of mine told me about it. I really love the portable Firefox and Notepad ++ apps.

Just today I downloaded the http://portableapps.com/ “Suite Light” of applications to a 256mB flash drive and IT IS LOVELY!
The suite even includes a system menu that appears as a tray icon on the right-hand bottom corner of Micro$oft Windows XP.
I am now FREE of Micro$oft application purgatory and able to my favorite third parties for the PC platform. ^_^~
I am one happy geekling! :)

I’ve been using PortableApps for a while now. Thanks for mentioning it here.
For me the killer app in the suite is Thunderbird. I can use my laptop, my desktop, my friend’s computer, or my mom’s computer and I have all my e-mail in a full client. I never really liked the webmail UIs but couldn’t consolidate my inbox or folders. Now all my e-mail is done through PortableApps.
For equal time I just found U3 drives from SanDisk. Their Cruizer model doesn’t have a cap to lose and has the U3 launcher. You can get Firefox and many of the apps available through PortableApps and some more. I couldn’t find a pod catcher on PortableApps, but U3 has a version of myPodder available. I can store my subscriptions on the drive and download and listen from any Internet ready computer handy.

There is one thing I discovered about their Application Suites with menu interfaces and I’ll explain presently: I’ve been using their “Light” and “Platform” suites with a 256mB and 4gB flash drives on a Dell Optiplex workstation in my office (so I don’t have to be a slave to M$ Word, Outlook, et cetera) running Windows XP. The applications work fine, if a little slow at first. The problem occurs after you close out your applications and exit the menu interface. There’s some process or service in Window’s that won’t easily let go of the flash drive and it takes a while before you can successfully “eject” the drive and safely remove it from the USB port. ^..^~
