After trying multiple iPhone cases, I finally found one that I’m happy with. It’s called the Naked Case.
The Dock Extender from SendStation is a universal dock extension kit that lets you plug your iPhone in a dock without removing the case.
RuinediPhone.com has a petition to try and get Apple to intervene for Canadians and make Rogers offer a more acceptable rate plan.
The PlantSense GardenGro offers a more high tech approach to growing plants.
Neal is finally starting to use Firefox 3 as his main browser, thanks to extensions like Gspace. Gspace makes it easy to use Gmail for storage. You can download the extension here.

You mentioned in brief 384 that you use two Drobos to allow playing of movies from any mac in your house. Can you tell us how you do this? Thanks.

Hi Cali
Thank You for mentioning RuinediPhone.com petition just maybe Rogers will take notice and stop ripping us Canadians off.
I use a great clear case from Scosche for my iPod Touch, they also sell iPhone cases. I tried 3 other clear cases before buying this one. My beef mostly with the other cases was how easily they pull apart.

Speaking of plant coolness. Have you seen the plant pot that provides feedback? http://www.everythingusb.com/usb-digital-pot-14806.html
Thanks for the great show,

Yup… we Canadians once again get ripped off by greedy Rogers monopoly, while Hong Kong gets an even better deal than US: http://www.everythingusb.com/apple-iphone-3g-hong-kong-14965.html

Yeah Rogers shines when it comes to corporate greed. I guess the $1 billion net profits they made last year was not enough for them. We need to force the CRTC to make Rogers sell Fido and break the monopoly on GSM service.

Re: Rogers
I may be suffering from the Cell Phone user’s version of battered wife syndrome, but Roger’s data plans are getting a lot better. Up until the other week, the largest data plan one could get on a non-blackberry was 25MB/month, and that was going to run you a good $15. Now they are selling data plans starting at 300MB for $30. It’s no where near the US pricing for data, but it crushes it’s other Canadian competition … well, not that they really have any competition since they are the only national carrier and the only ones with a GSM network, but the regional CDMA carriers are not exactly giving away the data either.
Suffice to say, the $60/400MB/150 minute plan for the iPhone is actually _extremely_ reasonable for Rogers. A month ago, something like that wouldn’t have been possible. Will it be useful for heavy iPhone users. Nope, sorry. Take advantage of wifi (Something that Rogers isn’t planning to disable on the iPhone! Wow! — be very impressed, it wasn’t that long ago they had Nokia build a special version of the E61 without WiFi). Would I like unlimited data plans? Of course. However, if you talk to the people who have had hacked iPhones for nearly a year, this is a massive improvement from how Rogers charged before. Rogers has zero competition and until they do, there will be little in the way of truly unlimited data plans.
The petition in general is kind of useless. Apple doesn’t care. They have an agreement now with Rogers and are going to make a lot of money. Rogers definitely won’t care — I mean, who else would you go to get an iPhone in Canada? And, more importantly, isn’t going to affect Rogers’ sales. Even if everyone who signed the petition decides to cut off their nose to spit their face, there are thousands more behind them drooling to get their hands on an iPhone.

Just to let everyone know, using the gspace extension violates Google’s EULA. In one of the Q&As, it says: “Using third party software applications that interact with Gmail directly violates the Terms of Use that all users must agree to before creating a Gmail address” (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13107&topic=12914)
Uploading and downloading a lot of files can get your Gmail account locked for 24 hours. So just be careful. I’d like to use gspace but I rely heavily on my Gmail account (I use it to check other POP3 mail too) so I’m too scared to try this one out.
