I can’t write shownotes because it would give away the joke! This episode is Max Murphy’s (from Mac News Weekly) fault.

Tsk tsk – the curly apostrophe in ‘08 is curling the wrong way. Common error.

Guess I missed the joke since these videos are encoded weird. For whatever reason, Totem keeps playing your podcast at like 1/10 speed. This is a common problem with the Brief that does not happen with my other video podcasts.
Too bad, a tech brief should be available to all users!

This is nothing new. A similar thing was done to promote Dexter a while back. http://www.icetruck.tv/news/

Sorry for the comment spam. I clicked submit comment and the screen refreshed without my comment added at the bottom.

No problem, Ryenstein! I figured something like that happened. If you don’t mind, I’m going to delete the some of them. :)

I would never vote Cali for president. She is probably a corrup Liberal who wants to pull us out of Iraq. Cali is the type that lose the war in Iraq and kill American soldiers just so she can get twitter back. Screw Twtitter, screw Cali lewis (why not use your real damn name Luria Petrucci or Luria Campbell.
July 25th, 2008 at 6:24 am
HEY! James, that’s extremely inappropriate. You don’t know a thing about me. Kill American soldiers????
Again, that shows just how little you must pay attention and JUST how little you know me.
Not that it matters, but I explain the name thing on my About page.
Do a little research before accusing people publicly, okay?

Hey Cali!! Love your show!!.. You´re so fun to wacth…!
Of course, there always will be people to criticize us =/
I know you´d be a very good president!!! Free Iphones for everyone!!! Hahahaha..
Luv ya! =D

James:
I was extraordinarily shocked when I saw your comment because it’s so rare to find comments that are so obviously spawned out of ignorance or, more likely, sheer idiocy. Despite the obvious issue that your comment fails to live up to the standards of coherence of even an infantile tantrum (Twitter relates to the war in Iraq how?), you obviously do not know Cali Lewis and you do not know Neal Campbell. That, by the way, is a good thing.
I’ll also add that if you were literate, or cared enough to do anything other than make totally baseless, wildly inaccurate, and frankly stupid criticism, you would be able to answer most of your questions, such as they are.
I would continue to talk about how people like you bring down the level of conversation on the Internet and your web presence is to the detriment of us all, but the GeekBrief viewership is smart enough to spot idiots. Please, leave us alone, and go to your meeting of the Ignorance Society of America or spend your time in some other activity, preferably productive.
Chris Farley
P.S. Cali and Neal, I apologize for calling James out like this, but this stuff makes me crazy.

Gee, James … did somebody burn your toast and over-cook your grits this morning? ^..^~
July 28th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Mmmmm. I typed in all kinds of permutations of Channel Three Online into my browser and search engine and can’t find anything that gets this to work. There are several people I’d love to goof on with this, but could I get an URL for this gag? Thanks in advance.

You’d have my vote! :-)
(but only because I am not born in the USA and can’t be a candidate myself) :-P

That was fun. I, of course, followed up by pranking a few friends.
It would be a great story to cover what technology they used to do that and how well it’s working for them as viral promotion. I’m amazed at how quickly it can customize the text into the video on moving objects, etc.
August 5th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
As a follow-up to my previous comment, I think it’s much easier than it may seem at first glance. I was originally thinking in terms of how much work is was to do motion tracking on a video project I worked on to make text follow an object.
I’m sure this is just a movie in Flash with a text layer over the top. Changing out the text is simple and nearly instant.
