    Hi Cali and Neal,

Great episode again! Loving the new logo used in the desktop wallpaper and lower thirds.

Just off to get the Ubiquity plugin now!

  2. William Addington Says:

Hmm, a new logo eh where did that one come from? I like it from what I can tell from the lower thirds and wallpaper usage.

  3. Ron Kelly Says:

Hey Cali, Thanks for the great episode – informative as always, however I notice the audio on this one was a bit down and a there’s a slight low hum underneath, anything different in your setup?

  4. Dale Cruse Says:

I got no audio at all on this one via my iTunes on the Extra Large Format.

  5. Zach LeBar Says:

    Hey Guys,

Loved this episode. Ubiquity sounds cool, I’ll have to check it out. Not sure I love the logo. The typeface alone looks cool, but adding a gradient to the part that makes the logo look 3D looks terrible. The logo used in the lower thirds is much better. I kept getting distracted by the bright logo on the computer screens, and the gradient makes it extremely difficult to read.

I haven’t been getting the GB feed in my Bloglines for almost two weeks now :( Any reason why?

Great show, cant believe I’ve been following geekbrief for almost a year now! Just something I notice though…what’s the buzzing sound thats always in the background?

  8. TBigMan Says:

    Very Nice!

I want a space cube! I can’t afford it right now, but I want it just the same. I would get a custom paint job on mine to make it look like a Rubik’s Cube and mount it on a lighted crystal pedestal. The blue light, like in the movie Tron. That would be so totally awesome!

The show was great. Cali, you looked like you were in a really good / funny mood. I like the new background logo’s. And as for the audio buzz.. it was a very low freq. You probably checked already, but just in case look at your grounds? maybe you have a ground loop or something. :)

  9. Cali Says:

Sorry about the buzz, guys! We’ll get it worked out.

  10. AlienSpaces Says:

I actually have Sennheiser in-ears, but well, they aren’t that price! :o) Yikes Scoob! But they do rock considerably more than any others I’ve used. Not sure these wireless ones are worth it, because of the huge transmitter. It would be cool if the earphones were a tad smaller too.

I like the new logo actually. mayyyybe tone down the drop shadowy thing a little.

    Nice brief.

As for IE8, it will be interesting when it get released into the wild and us developers get see if MS actually come good on their promise of making it the first standards compliant browser they have released.

Nice Brief. Purdy top too .

  12. AlienSpaces Says:

Sorry about the double post! I hit escape, honest!

  13. oleschri Says:

The latest episodes have an awful audible 60(?)Hz hum noise in WMV-format, except for the intro and outro. :( Please, please fix that, my ears are hurting! ;)

  14. oleschri Says:

Oh, just realized the problem was already commented on by Cali. Big THX :D (note to self: read comments more thoroughly…)

  15. Clemens Says:

I don’t like the new logo. It looks like it’s been stuck in the 90ies.

  16. Daniel Says:

    The Drobo code didn’t work.

  17. Ryan Says:

I completely agree with Zach LeBar over the new logo. And Cali, I’ve enjoyed watching this show get better and better with every episode.

  18. Cali Says:

Thanks for all the feedback on the logo!

  19. Prescott Perez-Fox Says:

Thanks for all the commentary on the logo. Cali, Neal, and I are gonna work a bit more on the colour, shapes and other usage. But I was pleasantly surprised to see it rolled out in this episode.

  20. John Campos Says:

In this show you say what steps you must go through in OSX to look up the definition of a word. It’s actually much simpler than you laid it out as. Just highlight the word and control-click and you are the presented menu includes the option to look up the work in the dictionary.

  21. Cali Says:

@John: I wasn’t specifying OS X. I was going through the steps that most people go through, all OSs.

  22. Keith Says:

One correction/clarification: the price you quote on the D90 ($1299) is for the package with the “new AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR” lens. Body-only price is $999.

  23. JF Says:

Seriously… 2000$ for a computer with 16mb of ram and 1GB storage??? NO WAY!

    Nice show as always.
    JF

  24. Ale Says:
