We have an audio conversation with Jim Carroll, the founder of Savant. They’re the only company (that I’m aware of) that builds home automation systems on Apple hardware. You can check them out at SavantAV.com. I don’t see the iPhone/iPod Touch app in the App Store. As soon as I get the link, I’ll update this post.
We also officially announce the 2008 Christmas Party in Nashville with Geoff Smith. Last year, we did it virtually over Ustream. This year, we’re inviting everyone to come to The Big Bang Bar (Geoff’s dueling piano bar). We’ll stream if we can on Ustream, and if we can’t because of bandwidth, we’ll record it and release later. If you can make it to Nashville on December 15th, it’s going to be a blast!
We’ll be renting a couple cameras and a Tricaster in addition to piping in some additional bandwidth. If you’re interested in underwriting the event, please contact me.

I have been listening to the show for several months and have enjoyed it.
I am a home automation designer and have been watching Savant since it was announced. My company has been using a product by Vantage Controls for over 10 years. It is not based on Apple, but a few years ago they began using linux as the os for their controllers and touchscreens.
The amazing thing is that they have web applications that work with the iphone, itouch, AND any other web enabled device such as a cell phone, Apple computer, Microsoft computer, linux computer – virtually anything with a web browser.
We do mobile installations such as yachts and houseboats, but never an RV or bus… yet.
Good luck on the big trip. I will try and catch you if you make it thru Omaha.

I love the show, and the radio show! What song did you use to close the show at the end? Its a piano style, and i love it!
I also would like to know if Geoff was planning to do a concert anytime soon in brazil or in france? :)
Too bad im not in Nashville anymore…

Haha! Geoff will have to answer that, but he hasn’t told me of any plans to head to Brazil or France. :)
The song is a loop in Soundtrack Pro. I *think* it’s called Buddy, but there are so many songs in there I can’t keep track!

A new iPhone/iTouch app that directly controls the Vantage Infusion system (no pc required) is now in the iTunes store!
