Shownotes:
Hotels.com released a technology (in Beta) that uses image psychology to find hotels you might like. All you have to do is choose between photos based on your desired vacation and Hotel Visualizer will give you some options.
KATA has a Multimedia Backpack designed for photographers, videographers and filmmakers. It has tear-resistant fabric, foam padding and protects gear from bumps and weather. I called KATA to find out how to pronounce it. No luck, so I went with both possible pronunciations.
Hammacher Schlemmer is selling the Laser-Guided Pool Cue, the first of it’s kind that’s available for purchase. It brakes down, has a touch sensor to turn it on and off, as well as an auto shut off option. They’re also selling the Anywhere Home Sentry, a home security robot that can travel around the house, take pictures and email them to you. It also streams audio and video to your Web browser.
Neuros Technology announced the OSD2, an update to their open source DVR.

Wait a minute, are you saying KATA doesn’t know how to pronounce their own name?
Things like that multimedia backpack are such a temptation, looks great, it’s well thought out, then I catch sight of my Targus backpack staring at me accusatorily, reminding me that I never take it anywhere.

Thanks for mentioning Timbuk 2 bags. I’m busy shopping for a really good laptop bag, and they have the Coder, Wiki and Blogger bag range. How cool is that!? :) But wait. There’s more… you can even build your own custom laptop messenger bag!! *floored*. You probably already knew that though :)

@Dave No, I called KATA and couldn’t get a hold of anyone, and they didn’t use the name KATA on the recording…maybe a parent company or something.

Hey, there’s another social networking site already out there that focuses on matching people of similar interests with recommendations from others. It’s not tied to any booking package, yet, but that might be an interesting expansion for them. It’s called LikeMe and they have some kind of algorithm that matches you up with others. It’s got a friend concept so you can get the inside scoop from your friends on the site.
Check it out: http://www.likeme.net/
