Shownotes:
HP announced a new line of netbooks. The most notable is the Mini 1000.
You might have heard of Axiotron Modbooks. If you have an existing MacBook you would like turned into tablet Mac that you can write and draw on, they now offer a service called Modservice.
For pretty much as long as I’ve been an adult, Elmo has been the highly demanded Christmas gift. This year, will it be the Alive Cubs? It’s on my wish list!
A lot of teachers show GeekBrief.TV in the classroom. For that, I am eternally perplexed and honored! Scholarspot.com is a great site that aggregates educational videos. I love the tech and science sections. I suggest parental guidance for the spirituality section.
Thanks to the HP MediaSmart Server for supporting The Brief. To find out where you can order one, click here.

Thought id let you know that there is about 2 and half minutes of black at the end of the HD version (thought 7 minutes was a little long for geekbrief). Great brief as always, thankfully i was a uni when i downloaded this episode or it would have taken a LONG time lol.
Keep up the great shows. Whatever happened to the linux based media center you were building?

Cali, you can buy 1.5TB drives now… so only 6 or so to reach your 9GB. Man, that’s just crazy… I used to think I needed that.. but I stopped saving movies/TV shows.. stream em now, or delete it when I’m done.

I can’t wait for Apple to come out with an ultra-portable. Twice the size of the iPhone would be great!

Hi Cali,
Thanks for showing the HP stuff, I’m intrigued by the layer over the OS. As for Wacom, this is from Urban Dictionary:
Wacom is actually pronounced “Wah-Kum” as indicated by their support line’s recording, though uneducated people pronounce it “Wey-Comb” or “Whack-Um” which are just wrong.
October 30th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Ack!! I’m pretty sure it’s prounounced way-comm (like calm without the l) Dunno if this is technically proper, but it’s how I’ve always said it and everyone who i’ve ever heard refer to a Wacom tablet has prounounced it as such as well :-/ Never heard the wackum or waycum pronunciation before…
Oh, and I never would have even noticed the dead space if someone hadn’t commented on it, I always close the window as soon as the mevio slide comes up at the end. I guess mine was just playing idly for a while o_0
