Shownotes:
RED announced two new cameras to their line. The Scarlet is $2,500 and the Epic is $28,000.
I’ll be getting a Flip Mino HD soon to review. It shoots in 720p for $229.95.
I think the Blackberry Storm is the first phone that has a chance at competing against the iPhone.
If you’re like me and don’t like to keep your downloaded email locally, Stash My Mail is worth a look. You can download all your email in a zip file for safe keeping, and since zip files don’t take up much space, you don’t have to worry about loosing precious hard drive space.
Rovio is sponsoring this episode of The Brief. You can also take over Rovio’s controls and test drive him at MeetRovio.com.

The Blackberry looks interesting. I don’t think we will se it in Sweden though. We will however see the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I think that will be a hit. What do you think?

The new blackberry does look pretty awesome, but i don’t think it will ever be able to compete with the iphone… unless it changes it’s name from blackberry to “google phone”.

I’m an early adopter of the RED ONE. I must say I was skeptical too, even though I gave them a deposit. I love it though, and it gives us ALOT of business. Everyone wants to shoot on a RED.

I’m just as excited about the new re-re-announced Scarlet, but yet again it’s nothing more than vaporware.
Here’s what happened:
CANON: Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II allowing Full HD Video capture at 1920 x 1080 resolution for up to 4GB per clip with HDMI output for HD viewing. Results from the camera have been nothing short of freakin impressive.
RED: After a year of waiting for the Scarlet to be released they pulled it off the shelf the moment Canon 5D hit the market. RED said they had some basically retooling to do = Oh Crap, look what canon came out with and the price tag rocks!
Expect another year before RED *may release the second version of Scarlet or the the first gen of Epic.
Speaking with Canon it turns out their pro video department had no idea the technology (chip) in the 5D even existed. They only found out just as we all did watching those 5D HD video clips. As many of you know or don’t know Canon released upgrades and “improvements” to their pro video line, which equals to new focus wheel, some firmware and software upgrades etc.. Nothing impressive at all.
So what’s ahead?
I hear end of February or mid March as the golden months when Panasonic and Sony unleash some well kept secrets. It used to be October – December when all the goods came out, but that trend seems to be changing.

Dear RED,
If you have some of the older Scarlet cameras you were building, what will it take to buy one of those until the Scarlet II comes out on the market. I’m sure by now you have several of those first gen Scarlets laying around.
Cheers,
Scott

Loved the stashmymail service, although transfer is rather slow from a gmail account, you get the important stuff offline.. Worth it ! thanks Cali ;-)
Another thing, I don’t think we will get the Storm anytime soon in Chile, in fact the big boom now is the blackberry clamshell 8220.. I’d love to have the storm !
Cheers!
