Shownotes:
The latest Apple TV update breaks Boxee. I’m sure Boxee will come up with a fix soon enough, but I’m disappointed, as I am in the copyright protection on the MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Thanks to Jeff McCord for the tip.
The Bottle Top Tripod could potentially be used as a steadicam for a point and shoot camera. If you try it, leave a comment and let us know how it works!
Vizio announced a new 55″ LCD HDTV to it’s Vizio XVT line. It may just be my first 1080p TV. The VSB210WS is a High Peformance HD Sound Bar and Wireless Subwoofer kit, meant for a tabletop or it can be mounted on a wall. It’ll be available in January.
Neal and I fell in love with Loft 523 years ago. It’s a boutique hotel in New Orleans that does simple modern design right. Each room has a Fortuny Lamp, designed by Mariano Fortuny in the 1920’s.
Rovio is sponsoring this episode of The Brief. You can also take over Rovio’s controls and test drive him at MeetRovio.com.

Cali,
When do we get to see your Rovio in action (or interaction) with your dogs?
Also, not to be picky, but I think that neodymium is pronounced nee-oh-deem-ee-um. (It is the same type of magnet that controls the read/write heads in a computer’s hard drive.)

Cali,
I am unable to watch GeekBrief podcasts on my Apple TV 2.3. A sad day.

I was pretty disappointed with your comments regarding the Apple TV software update and Boxee.
I’m not aware of any evidence that Apple intentionally disabled Boxee, and I do not think that Apple has any obligation whatsoever to research Boxee’s installation methods and figure out how to not break them accidentally.
Do I think that Boxee’s features are wonderful – sure!
Do I think Apple has any responsibility to some third party hack on their product – no way.

I’m very pleased to see criticism of apple where it’s due ( and any company for that matter) . Loving a company or their product is fine, but following it blindly and accepting everything they throw at you whether it be good or bad is ludicrous, especially these days.

Boxee just approved me today. Cali, does it work with the update yet?

@walt – I agree. Apple has no responsibility to support the hack, but the hack makes Apple TV better!

Well, I went to order one of those Bottle Top Tripods, but the shipping fee is outrageous. There are two options: $10 and $30. That is a little steep for such a small item as this.
