Cali,

Here's another plug for the Canon...,

A former teammate of mine is now a member of Acroback and photographer Vincet Laforet is following them around shooting stills and video with the 5D. He also has a sample on Smugmug - can't wait to see more.

You can check it out here.

Cali,

I've been watching Geekbrief long before you even quit your regular job and can't wait to meet you guys! A coworker and I will be coming on down from Kentucky to see you in Nashville! Hopefully I'll too one day be able to brave the world of podcasting. But, oh, I digress. Consider yourself RSVP'd! :)

im confused about the 5D .. I always understood that video recording was not a possibility in DSLRs due to how they work; I guess i was wrong ...

Id be nice to get access to low compression mp2 (or whatever) files @ 1080p to download so I could hook that up to my 40" samsung ... flash on my laptop isnt up to par for 1080p playback..

Oh man, hope you feel better soon, that does not sound like fun you're having (nor from the audio podcast, heh).

The Nokia looks interesting. It's funny how much it costs vs the iPhone when it first came out. People bitched and moaned about a "$600 phone!?!?" and no one seems to make too much of a fuss about when other's do it.

I've given up on smartphones though. I'm usually near a wifi connection, and don't want to be forced into any data plan. Not sure this counts as a smartphone though, but likely. That and verizon will probably never see it, hah

Great show!

Do you need to RSVP for the Christmas special in Nashville?

If so, count my wife and I in! Fun venue + fun show = good times.

Hello Cali,
I want to grow up to be just like you? LOL. This a great site and your videos are awesome (production and content). Wow, I really need to step it up. Do you mind telling what you use for your editing.

Also, Stef says this is the best episode cause of Cali's voice, but I have to say only the people who have been watching will be able to tell. I am here for the first time and your voice doesn't sound bad, I can't wait check out another video to see what it sounds like normally. Anyway thanks for the great info, off to check out another video right quick then I need to do work.

Hope you feel better soon.

get better soon. it's a nasty bout going around that seems to have a few friends laid low for a few days to a few weeks.

the n97 looks good enough that i reckon i will be buying one despite the high price. the shape and size remind me of the psion 3a still one of my favourite designs.

lack of multitouch is not a problem as far as i can see. i tried an ipod touch to see it in action and it felt more akward to stretch an image than to press a single enlarge button on a keyboard or icon on screen. i can operate my nokia e71 one handed but with multitouch it would require 2.

the n97 would require 2 as it is larger but i still prefer a button or icon to change the size of an image. i use shortcuts to switch to main applications so the touch interface would slow me down as i have to watch the screen to see were to touch and if it has responded wereas you can feel the button depress under your finger and a quick check later tells you when it is ready for you which if you are talking to somebody while looking for information is less intrusive to the conversation.

that been said i'll still carry my ipod classic as for sheer capacity it has yet to be beaten and with the new classics smaller 120gb drive i would actually be lost without the extra 40gb oy my 160gb. was in hospital this year for 5 weeks and the 60 odd movies, 6 tv shows (every episode of blackadder, father ted, drew carey, firefly, it crowd, muppet show) plus 12gb of music kept me laughing or at least occupied. used nokias for email, web and book reading so the 2 devices kept me going leaving one on charge while using the other.

Glad to see you both back. Admittedly I say you guys are troopers. Great episode, great info and presentation.

Like a previous reader indicated, the Nokia N97 seems to be a good competitor for the iPhone whereas the Storm is missing its mark. Verizon will need some time to recover form this one.

Have a good wekend, feel better and Go Cowboys (playing Steelers tommorrow).

If you are looking for more indepth reviews of HDTVs I can really recommend http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/. Things that matters to me are covered like latency, others might be more interrested in other technical performances like color or motion resolution. Anyway great detailed reviews of some of the best HDTVs you can get, and no Vizio is not on that list.
