GBTV #500 | A Celebration in Steel

Shownotes:
John P. is back on the Brief. This guy is fascinating to us because he retired at a young age with enough money to do whatever he wants. He choose to spend time learning to do interesting things like forging knives out of steel, welding and the list goes on and on. He learned to use and bought a plasma torch. This thing cuts through steel like a hot knife through ice cream. We’re not that gung ho about celebrating round numbers, but 500 seemed round enough to merit something special. It’s kind of compounded by the fact that Neal and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary on Sunday, January 25th.
I asked John if he would demo his plasma torch by cutting the GeekBrief.TV logo from a piece of steel. He did and it’s wicked cool!
Thank you guys for sticking around for 500 shows. Our goal is to keep the show cheesy, but constantly make it look better and better. By the grace of God and friendship of those of you who watch, it’s 500 down and a few thousand more to go!
I have to give a shout out to Prescott Perez-Fox. He gave us a lot to work with. If you need a logo for what you do, he just might be your guy.

what?! I can read from the notes (can’t seem to open the video) you are going to leave the show after #1500!! That’s much too young an age to retire from show-business. But Ok if you want to reconvert to metallurgy worker (from what I can see from the picture), I guess you have to do that while you are still young and full of energy… Btw I am not that old neither, but I seem to be lacking sleep & consequently energy. I can only admire your combining these 2…

Congradulations. Wow, 500 already … I have not had the pleasure of watching all 500 (started at around 200), and enjoyed every one of them. Thanks Cali for providing us with informative and entertaining podcasts … you’re the best.

Congratulations Cali and Neal! So proud and happy for you.
I’ve said it before (and it’s even truer with my success this week w/ Mevio) and I’ll say it again – you guys have taught SO MANY of us to do things and your enthusiasm to share your talent and knowledge will be repaid by multitudes. I just know it.
5000 episodes more to go, here’s a toast to that! :)
Love,

Congrats on #500! Couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple of podcasters.
Your steel logo reminded me of when I was inspecting construction sites in Mobile, Alabama. At one of the sites, a pile-driver got bored (or perhaps he was looking for me to cut his crew a break) and torched my initials out of some scrap 1″ thick steel. Haven’t thought about those steel initials since. Must have gotten left behind somewhere in all my moving about (they were very heavy). But it would be cool to have now that I’m in steeler country.
BTW Go Steelers! :-D

Quick question, have your tried out the new Macbbok Pros yet? I need to get one but can’t decide between the 15″ or 17″. I would appreciate any advice you have, thanks.

Seeing #500 was nice to see, but the vow, oath, pledge, promise for another 500 is even better. Congrats you two!

My apologies. My cat just discovered the [Enter] key. In honor of GBTV #500 and your tenth wedding anniversary, I’m playing a recording of traditional Gaelic wedding tune entitled, “Dónal Agus Mórag,” with vocals by Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, followed by a Scots reel, “The New-Rigged Ship.” There can never be enough music, love, smiles laughter, or GBTV. ^..^~
