Shownotes:
So far, smart phones launched in answer to the iPhone have disappointed. The Palm Pre looks like it’s combination of hardware and software is elegant enough in functionality to provide consumers with a real choice. Tim Cook, COO at Apple even offered a warning to competitors after the Pre was announced:
We approach this business as a software platform business. We are watching the landscape. We like competition as long as they don’t rip off our IP. And if they do, we will go after anyone who does.
Friend of the Brief, SERKOART, took his 5D Mark II to the Palm booth at CES and captured video of the Pre in action. He posted the first part on mobiledivide.com and he’ll post part two of the video Wednesday. **UPDATE: Part 2 is posted.
Both the iPhone and Palm Pre benefit from a closed development environment. On the open-source front, Android developer, Luke Hutchison introduce a hack enabling multi-touch on T-Mobile’s G1. You can read about the hack on Luke’s blog or watch a video of it in action here.
You can save money on domain name registrations and renewals from GoDaddy.com with discount codes GB1, GB2 and GB3. For an explanation of each code, click here.

hmmm – the multidimensional search on the pre is very much like the newton’s search that Apple had so many years ago.

I was able to see the video perfectly. Cali, in your earlier videos u used to say “thanks for watching” in a cachie way. As your cachie phrase is an excelent way to place in the mind of your followers.
Hope you return to that line as it is always fun to hear it. It’s only my humble opinion.
Best wishes

The Palm Pre looks like it has the best smartphone OS since the iPhone. Let’s hope it does well. I’m sure a little competition between these phone giants can only mean better features for consumers like us. :-)
