Shownotes:
People keep finding Nokia phones in the oddest places. In the UK, Glen Kerley found a mobile in the belly of a fish and in Wisconson, Emma Schweiger found a Nokia phone in a freshly opened bag of Clancy’s Ripple Potato Chips.
DEMO 09 is happening in Palm Desert, CA and also live on the Internet starting at 8:30 AM PST on March 2 and March 3.
The Touch Book from Always Innovating will debut at DEMO 09. It’s a netbook AND tablet computer with a touch screen for under $300. The specs have a lot of people interested in seeing if it will really deliver.
Rafe Needleman got a preview of Avaak’s Vue, a wireless Web cam system designed for home monitoring. It’s tiny, runs on a standard lithium CR123 cell and is controlled and viewed from a Web browser.
World of Apple says there will be an Apple event March 24 to unveil new desktop hardware, but Apple hasn’t announced anything yet.

Thank you for the shout out to Paul Harvey. I started in radio as a news announcer in 1974 and Harvey was an inspiration, not so much for what he said but for how he said it. He was a master story teller and possessed an unequaled knack for engaging an audience. There will never, ever be anyone like him again.

Your memorial tribute to Mr. Harvey at the start and end of your blog brought a tear to my eye, Cali! Thanks!

A small clarification on the price of the Touch Book – It’s available screen-only for use as a tablet for $299, and with the keyboard for the netbook configuration, it’s $399. It’s got me very intrigued.

I loved the Paul Harvey comments. I always enjoyed hearing him on the radio. He had a very distinctive voice and cadence that was hard to miss.

I am also intrigued by this Touch Book. However, after watching the Demo Video, I’m starting to think that is is an oversized cellphone wanna be. I mean 8GB micro SD card for storage? They want to have some of the iPhone games to run on it using the accelerometer? And I really am not sure about these “internal USB ports”. The whole thing is kind of scary.
Do you think you will be able to get one for a hands on review? With the 3D interface, and color screen, can it replace your Kindle?
