Shownotes:
Amazon launched their Kindle iPhone App. It’s free, and will keep your place using Whispersync. Set down your Kindle, leave the house, and continue reading on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I tried it and I love it.
WePC.com is ASUS/Intel project where you can share your ideas for a dream computer with engineers who can bring the best of those ideas to life. The first product to come out of the project is a dual screen notebook on display at CeBit 2009.
ASUS also announced their “Shell” 1008HA thin, light Luxury netbook at CeBit.
ASUS also kind of, but just barely announced the EeeNAS PC. It’s network-attached storage mated to a PC and it has a built in touch screen on the front that can be used to control it.
ASUS ALSO announced (and this one I want) the ASUS Eee PC Keybaord. It’s a keyboard that has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom -powered nettop built in. It kind of looks like an Apple keyboard but on the side is a 5-inch touch screen. The keyboard connects to a display via HDMI. There is also a wireless version that uses wireless HDMI.
You can save money on domain name registrations and renewals from GoDaddy.com with discount codes GB1, GB2 and GB3. For an explanation of each code, click here.

I’m one of those who said “Why doesn’t amazon sell kindle books to iPhone/smartphone/etc. users?” back when kindle was brand new. I’ve always been interested in eBook reading. I’m one of those crazy types who would dance happily if paper use was all but abolished. However, a good, fairly priced source of eBooks has never really existed. ereader.com/fictionwise.com is the closest second to Amazon’s Kindle for price and selection but that’s not saying much. Their prices are terribly high more often than not and the selection isn’t fantastic. I regularly find books on kindle these days that I can’t get for ereader.
So for quite a while I’ve been wishing for this iPhone app, as that had been my device of choice for ebook reading.. until this last weekend. I finally bit, and bought a Sony PRS-505 (Which I must say is stunning, despite the seeming lack of features, it must have the best PDF support of any reader within the $400 price range) and fell in love with the e-Ink for long form reading.
So some Amazon ninjas must have been hanging out in my office for the last few days because this Kindle for iPhone release tips my favor directly towards the kindle over the Sony quite simply because of the whispersync features.
So I returned my sony reader and ordered a kindle 2 just hours ago. I can’t help but think it somehow ironic that finally receiving the “kindle alternative” on my iPhone is what drove me to buy an actual kindle!
Here’s to hoping Amazon stays decent, in terms of DRM and pricing, for quite a while.

Unfortunately the Kindel iPod / iPhone add is not available in Canada — what’s up with that?
