Shownotes:
The Livio Radio takes a design cue from my favorite radio, the Model One, but it’s meant to stream Pandora music. There are Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons on the radio and the remote to ensure you’re taking full advantage of the Pandora service.
DSLR users who want to up their game but aren’t ready for pro gear might be interested in the Nikon D5000. It shoots 720p video at 24 frames per second and 12.3 megapixel stills. They included a swiveling view screen that helps you see what you’re shooting from the angle you want. It’ll be available by the end of April.
Bella’s Wireless HD Mouse is meant to improve the experience of editing video. You can assign specific movements (think gesture control) so you have a jog wheel, and with a single click, you can move right back into normal mouse behavior for non-editing applications.
If you’ve been following the Brief for a while, you know I use Bodelin Technology’s ProPrompter. They just announced software for the iPhone and iPod Touch plus a ProPrompter Wing to make using a prompter super portable and easy, for both professionals and casual use. When the app is approved, I’ll follow up on the show.

I use Pandora almost everyday at work. :) Sometimes at home too when I plug in my iPod Touch into the speakers.
And that Nikon D5000 looks yummy even if I’m a Canon user. :)

Daynah: you are the direct reason why I ban about 200 streaming websites at work.

Go, Cali, just go! The D5000, as Cali said, is an “in between” camera. But why the heck did they call it the D5000 when it’s clearly a model that fits in somewhere between the D40 an D90? Who knows?
Oh, I get it…they ran out of numbers.

Ok, maybe I do need to break down and get an iPhone.

I find Radio Paradise much more preferable to Pandora Radio. In the spirit of the FM-AOR radio stations of decades past, RP broadcasting and play-lists are hosted by live DJ’s. RP is entirely listener supported, There are absolutely no commercials during their streaming broadcasts and RP does not sell, rent or otherwise distribute information about their listeners and supporters.

@John, instead of banning specific URLs that stream media, I’d filter by bandwidth usage. For example, most audio streams at 128kbps equaling 56mB/hour of bandwidth, which is not too bad. Users often have options of listening to streaming audio as low as 64 or 32 kbps. However, when you get to streaming video, that’s often a whopping 300kbps and 128mB/hour of bandwidth.

Pro Prompter for the iPhone turned out to NOT be free. It’s $9.99. Too bad. I’d have even paid $2.99 for it, but not $10…
