iPhone OS running on a Mac Pro
Dreamfield is a Swedish company that specializes in post production. They posted a video without explanation that appears to show a Mac Pro booting up into the iPhone OS. I’m in the skeptic camp, but even if what they did is a simulation, I’m not any less impressed. The full video is here.
CrunchPad Unboxing
Mike Arrington is NOT happy that someone posted a video on YouTube showing an earlier prototype of his CrunchPad. The video created some confusion because it shows an older prototype being unboxed. The latest prototype is thinner and has an aluminum back rather than the roundish plastic back shown on the video. We found a lower resolution version of the video (it’s been removed from YouTube). I understand Mike’s point, but the good news is people can’t wait to see the CrunchPad and we’re willing to be excited about even the rejected prototypes.
Power Seeking Robot
Willo Garage has reached Milestone 2 with their PR2 Robot. The goal was to have the robot seek out and plug itself into 9 different power outlets through the Willow Garage offices. It detected and made it’s way around obstacles including closed doors and ultimately succeeded. You can see the rest of the video here.
Hillcrest Loop Pointer
The Hillcrest Loop Pointer is a gesture controller we talked about on GeekBrief.TV long, long ago. It’s finally available from Amazon.com. We ordered one and we’ll do a hands on demo on Brief 580. The Hillcrest Labs site is here.
Just in time for Father’s Day shopping, Brookstone.com is a new sponsor. My promo code SHOWGEEK will save you 10% of an order, except that it doesn’t include gift wrapping, gift cards, shipping, tax, Tempur-Pedic, Bose, Sony, Celestron, SkyScout, Panasonic, Power Plate and Braun products.

For whatever sentiments people may have about Mike Arrington, his CrunchPad is an exciting idea brought to life and may be at the forefront of the next evolution of portable computing and inter-networking.

The link for “You can see the rest of the video here.” Under the Power Seeking Robot is wrong?

If you watch carefully you’ll see some of the on-screen iPhone action happens before he’s even moved his fingers. Total fake.
