OMG, Cali. O.M.G. A Home Theatre project? Is it wrong that when ever I hear about someone building a Home Theatre I am immediately flooded with fear? It is the dread of knowing so many people who have built Home Theatres - spent darn good money doing so - but WITHOUT enough knowledge; or worse yet, THINKING they know enough already! It just puts a knot in my stomach every time! Aarrgh!

Over time, I have learned NOT to listen to the little voice that says, "oh...I'm sure they'll be fine...I'm sure they researched and know what they are doing." True enough that, in the long run, everyone learns their lessons on their own; but I ask, what is the point of experience if not to at least TRY to share the knowledge gained?

Cali, you know a TON of extremely knowledgable people. I am ALMOST positive that you are probably in good hands. But on the off chance that even you may have gaps in your knowledge, I would like to impart this one crucial bit of knowledge:

If you ever speak to someone regarding Home Theatre and the FIRST thing they do is start talking about TVs, speakers, receivers/amps or any other piece of "gear" - that is NOT a person who should be part of your planning, design or build team. The FIRST thing that any knowledgable Home Theatre person should talk about is: THE ROOM.

What's going to be your best choice of display? That will depend on YOUR ROOM.

What's going to be your best choice of speakers? That will depend on YOUR ROOM.

A Home Theatre is a SYSTEM and the single largest and MOST IMPORTANT part of that SYSTEM is THE ROOM.

I'll leave my comment there for now, but if you (or anyone else) would like any more info regarding Home Theatre, I'd be more than happy to help out in any way possible :)
