Shownotes:
Optoma announced their attempt at making 1080p projection more accessible with their H20 1080p Projector. It’s only $1000, and has two HDMI ports. The Vivitek H1080FD is another good option if you’re in the market.
Julie & Julia is, I believe, the first movie about blogging. I loved it, and hope you guys go see it too! You can see Julie Powell’s current blog here. Julie’s original blog called The Julie and Julia Project is here.
Sony has two new Walkmans, the S-series. There are 8GB and 16GB versions. Supported codecs include MP3, WMA, AAC, H.264, MP4 and WMV. When connected to a PC, you’ll be able to drag and drop files onto the player.
Onkyo’s TX-NR807 is an A/V Receiver with network audio streaming. The TX-SR707 is an A/V Receiver without Network Audio Streaming. We use and love the Onkyo TX-SR706.
Google is letting you use their new search engine. You can test it out here.
SquareSpace is a very easy, inexpensive way to setup a Web site or blog. They host and manage all the technical stuff. If you start with SquareSpace and then decide you want to move to WordPress or Blogger or Typepad, SquareSpace will help. They’ll help you move from one of the other platforms too. My promo code, GEEK, will save you 12% when you sign up.

I took my wife to see Julie & Julia last night and we loved it! Inspiring in many ways – cooking and blogging.
Your ONKYO setup must be awesome.

The text Chuck Lorre puts at the end of shows is called a “Vanity Card”. It is a couple of seconds given to the production company to be recognized at the end of TV shows. With Dharma and Greg, Chuck Lorre started thinking that rather than just having a production logo he’d rather put some thoughts. And some of us started reading them back in the VCR days. ;)

This is probably a bit off-topic but I figured you guys might have some advice. I got an Onkyo TX-SR875 which is really good but gave me some bother when I connected a spare mac-mini to it. Couldn’t get a resolution above 720 x 480 when connecting via HDMI to the Onkyo but get full 1080p if I connect directly to the TV (which thankfully has multiple HDMI in) – don’t suppose you guys tried anything similar and had any tips to share? (setup is fine this way as I just ran an optical connection from the mac-mini to the Onkyo to get wicked audio but would love to be able to switch everything via the Onkyo)

Just a thought on projectors, as a former owner: Although the massive screen is truly awesome, the lamps are not. You will need a new one every couple years, some of which can cost upwards of $200/each. Furthermore, at some point lamps may go out of production (as was the case with my Sony projector). This makes the entire thing useless! I didn’t realize there was a problem with my lamp until I started playing Metal Gear Solid 2 at a friend’s house and realized there was a laser sight on the guns!

As I can’t DM you, here is the twitter reply:
“D CaliLewis My pleasure! I usually watch selfishly, so this time I thought it wouldn’t hurt to tell the world :-) I truly enjoy your show!”
And as I’m not limited to 140 characters, I can add a big thanks to you 2 for doing such a consistent great job, always sparks my interest and unlimited hunger for more gadgets and cool technology!
