Shownotes:
This was shot on the Canon 5D Mark II (may it rest in peace) during our road trip in October. The song is one of my favorite road trip songs, “Drive Away” by Matthew Ebel.

~ Out of the oven and on the road,

Happy thanksgiving.

What do you mean by, “may it rest in peace”? Did your 5D2 break?
November 27th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
It was stolen in New York. :(

OMG! I’m so sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine being without mine. It’s my favorite camera of all time. Do you have any kind of insurance that would cover it? Are you going to get a new one?
November 27th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
Oh and please tell me how it got stolen so I try my best for mine not to get stolen.
November 27th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
Oh, it was in the back room at a private event. Just don’t leave yours alone, even if you think it’s safe. :)

@Cali, I’m sorry. :( Would a Geek Brief on securing one’s portable machines and devices be a good idea for sometime in the future. I use a security cable with “Guy Lombard” (my ten-year-old PowerBook) when I visit a favorite coffee shop and most folks think it’s a power cord. People at the coffee shop will leave their tables for a refill and leave their premium laptops and MacBooks right there for the grabbing.

I noticed it does the same thing as the Kodak ZI8 in some parts of the image are “jumpy” I’m guessing this is a result of the compression. Any ideas why it did that to your video vs that fellows video you featured driving around NY City a while back? His video was flawless if I recall.

This video is really very awesome. Marvellous scene.

Great landscapes!
CAT and I were wondering… where were these shots taken?
November 30th, 2009 at 7:49 am
They were taken in different parts of our route – Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Colorado.

Love that song! Very apropos of the video scenery. My family and I were trying to guess the states you were driving through. It was a fun video but, we missed you! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Hearing that your camera was stolen makes me so angry! In the words of Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction, “Boy, I wish I could’ve caught him doing it. I’d have given anything to catch that a**hole doing it. It’d been worth him doing it just so I could’ve caught him doing it.”
